Backup stickers

I have 2020 Expy XLT. I am using backup assist to park my travel trailer and the assist goes off and says “can’t read sticker”. Does this a couple times and says “take control of steering wheel “. Is very aggravating when in middle of backing into campsite. Anyone else have problems with reading stickers? I have it located where instructions show to put it.

Always hated the trailer backup assist on the F150. It’s much easier to backup by hand then to try and use that knob…

I have the same issue with the sticker on my Featherlite car hauler. I'm toying with the idea of putting a sticker on something removable (cardboard, plastic sheet, etc...) and securing it with velcro (or something else) to only use in real difficult backup situations.

When the backup assist works it's awesome. The messages have become so annoying that I just steer from the bottom of the wheel and do it the old fashioned way for most situations.

Same here. It seems to be (for me) a light issue with camera and sticker. If sun or normal light on it it works great, but if turn and it becomes shaded or darker from when you start backing up it stops working. They should have a camera light (like phone flashlight) to light the camera view and sticker. When it works it is a nice system and makes precise backing easy.

I have the same issue on my Expedition. It worked great when I first got it, but now it fails with the sticker not found message every time I try to use it day or night. The light from the sun does not appear to be the issue. I have tried covering up everything except the sticker to eliminate reflections to no avail.

The light on the back il the illuminates the area when backing up at night but the system still fails. The Ford Dealer has not helped.

Just learn how to backup without a camera. That’s why you have mirrors. My dad has a 2016 F350 long bed and toes a 35’ 5th wheel and can back it into any space using just his mirrors and a spotter in the rear. It can be done, don’t always rely on technology to do basic driving operations lol. You don’t wanna be that guy taking 20 minutes to drop a 17’ jayco in a camper spot while others are waiting for you get out of the road

This is so disappointing to hear. I just started window shopping for a new 2021 or ordering a 22 and was considering the back-up assist a must-have (if for nothing other than the fun of the technology). I had no idea it relied on seeing a sticker. I trust you can at least set it up for more than one trailer (I have a boat trailer towed infrequently and a single axle utility trailer that sees a fair amount of use).

Yes you can add multiple trailers. I thought it might be fun to setup and play with. Never use it. If you are use to backing trailers up. It’s actually confuses you more. Doesn’t it come with HD tow package? You do want that package!

Quote for truth. I played with it on the 2019 I had for a while, and I just kept fighting myself.
