Yes, it stays in the same mode as the last time I drove it.

See thread below. It also list some of the pluses and minuses.

But not factory, and not a FORSCAN change. You spliced a module into your wiring harness.

Hmm, my 2018 Platinum seems to do just fine setting tow mode whenever the electrical plug is inserted. It informs me the next time I start it that it's off - no trailer detected. Nice feature, but dumb that it has to display an alert for 10 or so seconds unless I hit the ok button.
If you unplug the trailer with the Expedition running, you should not get that message at the next startup. It is because the trailer was plugged in when the vehicle was off, last it knew you had a trailer connected.

This is just the trailer detected relative to the instrument panel. It does not affect the drive modes.

If you have a 21 Expedition, please go to the FORSCAN area, there is a thread where the Beta version of FORSCAN is posted that will work with a 21. Search is your friend.

Also, DO NOT use direct line code changes from any previous Expeditions, as the 21's are even somewhat different than the 20's. Use the drop downs.

Also, FORSCAN cannot change the default. It will default to Normal. The 21 150's ask you. If you don't answer in a few seconds it goes back to Normal.
I'm one of those guys that made direct line changes, I didn't know there were drop downs when I first started using forscan. I tried to revert a setting back to the original code (auto start/stop disable) but not the start/stop only works when it wants to. I tried changing it through the drop down afterwards but it didn't help. A couple issues that I think may be a culprit.
1. i tried the the revert with a newer version of forscan than what I used to make the changes.
2. The new version of forscan now warns me able my adapter, because it is not one of the adapters listed on the forscan website. My adapter worked fine when I made the initial changes.

Should I try an older version of forscan to try and fix the start/stop function?

Did you backup the stock settings on the module before you made changes? If not, you can ask in the FORSCAN Area for the coding from another 2018 with similar options. You can then compare.

ALWAYS back up the whole module before making line item changes. It is part of the basic tutorials on FORSCAN usage.

Of course I didn't.........I figured I could just change the one digit back to the original number and there be no problem. I wrote down what I changed on paper for when this time came around.

Looking at this post, maybe I don't have a problem. I've had the function disabled for awhile, I don't remember exactly how often it would turn off. I'll have to watch the display and see.

The problem is that one digit can cause another digit to change based on the total coding of that line. That is why you should always backup the modules, AT LEAST once before you start making any changes, so you can go back to default.

Forscan experts: Three things…
1.) Is it possible the asbuilt from that super duty could be decoded to determine what setting preserves drive mode?

2.)One thing I would like is setting sport mode and staying in 2wd. My 18 F150 did this but my 19 Expedition changes to 4a.

3.) my F150 is long gone but I still have the old Forscan backups from it. Is there a way to view the asbuilt info from the trans settings external to Forscan? I can compare trans setting to see if I can accomplish #2 above.

Thanks!
