Yeah, the Octane next to the power concerns me...because of 2 things. From the preliminary tech sheet provided by Ford. King Ranch, Limited and Platinum will share 400hp.
Horsepower (XL, XLT, STX) 380 @ 5,000 rpm, 87 Octane 380 @ 5,000 rpm, 87 Octane
Torque (XL, XLT, STX) 470 lb.-ft. @ 2,250 rpm 470 lb.-ft. @ 2,250 rpm
Horsepower (LIMITED, KR, PLATINUM) 400 @ 5,000 rpm, 93 Octane 400 @ 5,000 rpm, 93 Octane
Torque (LIMITED, KR, PLATINUM) 480 lb.-ft. @ 2,250 rpm 480 lb.-ft. @ 2,250 rpm
Horsepower (TIMBERLINE, STEALTH) 440 @ 5,000 rpm, 93 Octane 440 @ 5,000 rpm, 93 Octane
Torque (TIMBERLINE, STEALTH) 510 lb.-ft. @ 2,250 rpm 510 lb.-ft. @ 2,250 rpm
1) Ford does all of its power ratings on all of its vehicles using a standard. That Fuel(Notice I did not say gas) has an Octane rating of 92
2) If they did indeed rate the lower models on 87, then that means they basically get the same HP and probably more torque than the middle models on 93 based on documented data of the power differences(Stock) of the 2nd gen 3.5 on 87 vs 93.
Also for clarity, and the 380 vs 400 is the EXACT same motor, only a factory tune difference.
