Back in October our 2017 Expedition had the battery replaced for the first time since new. The positive terminal had corroded and I ended up having to replace that connector when doing the battery. A month later the vehicle sat for 5 days while we were out of town and wouldn’t crank when we got back. I took battery back and replaced it with a new one as it failed the test at Autozone (dead cell). This past week, it sat again for 4 days without being cranked and was dead again. Jumped it off and drove home about 500 miles with no issues. Cranked fine this morning.

I’ve verified the battery voltage is around 12.6 with the vehicle off and 14.6 with it running. I currently have everything turned off with doors open for a couple hours and about to test the fuses to see if I can find something pulling current. So far everything seems good but I did notice a clicking in the rear passenger area which I’ve read is a blend door actuator. It has done this several times even while I’ve been testing and nothing else has power to it (radio, seats, lights, etc.). My first question is could this be what is draining the battery? Also, I had thought this issue would only be when the vehicle is running? Any thoughts and suggestions are greatly appreciated.

These are high amperage vehicles. Even my 2000 van battery won't last a week before draining. There's a lot of electronics on even when the ignition is off.

vehicle ECUs go into sleep mode under normal operation. parasitic draw should be very low, less than 20mA after everything goes to sleep (key off, vehicle locked for a minute or two), if you measure higher than that, you have something wrong or something aftermarket.

I’m going to do some more testing this weekend. One thing I’ve been doing is using the headlight switch manually rather than auto lamp just because it seems the lights would stay on longer than normal after shutting the vehicle off. Today I turned the switch and neither the parking lamps nor headlights would come on. After cycling the switch 2-3 times everything started working normal again. Not sure if this is related or an entirely different issue.
