This morning I was trying to turn off the lock horn blast when you double-lock the doors on my 2021 XLT by holding down the lock and unlock buttons; according to the internet this worked on some F150s. While I was messing with the buttons the car started. My fob has no remote start button, just unlock, lock, trunk, and panic. Is there a secret combination to remote start from a normal XLT fob?

Unless you have the Connectivity package. You don't have remote start. Your keyfob is a good indicator if you have remote start or not.

Connectivity Package • FordPass™ Connect 4G Wi-Fi Modem – 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot connects up to 10 devices1 – Remotely start, lock and unlock vehicle2 – Schedule specific times to remotely start vehicle2 – Locate parked vehicle2 – Check vehicle status2 Note: Ford Telematics™ and Data Services Prep

I do have remote start via the FordPass app, but not the keyfob.

I believe it is Lock, unlock, lock, that will start it. Technically, it is part of the perimeter plus option. If you have the perimeter plus module it will do the key fob dance to start.

This post really caught my attention. I have been contemplating buying an after market remote starter for my 2019 XLT. I tried the above combination to see if it would start my vehicle but nothing happened. I am assuming my vehicle doesn’t have remote start. Is this a correct assumption or is there a program that needs to be updated or installed that will work?? Do I need to buy a remote start? If so, is there a “plug and play” one that works with this model? I don’t mean to high Jack this post, but it looks like a lot of people have had experience with this. Thanks in advance for any help/direction any of you may have.F4A7B7C6-2C98-4389-B6DB-1DC59F2678DF.jpeg

You just need to buy the perimeter plus thing, it is plug and play. It plugs into the harness that is connected to the OBD port I believe. There are some threads on here someplace that talk about it and I think list the part number you need. I think it is only a couple hundred bucks.

This definitely works on my 2021 XLT. It came standard with the 4G connectivity thing. IE - it appears that remote start from the fob is standard on 2021 XLTs. Although this is specifically a 4x4 Max, so maybe that makes a difference on whether it is included.

Thanks for the tip! I did find the part online, but it looks like you need Forscan to install/activate it. I did some more research on this, but I'm not sure I could do all the computer work involved. Mostly, I'm afraid if I got into all that (Forscan programing), I would screw something up. I guess the Ford dealer could activate it? Wonder what the cost would be? Thanks again for everyone's help!

My friend has this module that plugs into the OBDI port.

I am pretty certain the ford module is plug and play. No forscan needed. I can't locate the post right now but several members here have done it.
