That's a very nice modification. One thing I've wondered about doing is changing out the blind spot monitor LED with a much brighter one. I can easily see the one in my wife's Toyota Avalon in my periphery, but my 2017 Expedition I have to be looking in that general direction. Looks like from the one photo of the rear side of the mirror you can just pull it out.
I have always had the same thought about the blind spot monitor LED. I wanted to put an LED (blue maybe) somewhere on the door by the speaker. I figured it should be easy to wire at this location. It sounds like many of you are way more ambitious than I am, so maybe this is a project someone wants to take on.

if you find a suitable surface mount LED that you like. Drill yourself a hole to size, Mount it where you indicated and route your pair of wires behind the door panel and splice into the Blindspot wires in the main mirror connector.

Looks brighter too. There is something about the design of the side mirror turn signals that feels a bit dated for +2015 vehicle. I think its the big chunk of amber plastic. This livens it up.

Nice… been wanting to do this mod, but I can’t find any drop-in units for our trucks… only the F-150 style mirror.
