I went with the melling 340hv and all factory parts going on 2 years now and the truck is mint. The oil pump was probably the single biggest issue with the 3v timing system. Few things i would change on them but overall when taken care of those motors can last a long time

I'm getting ready to replace the timing chain components. I'm curious if you got to install these tensioners and if they worked out well? Did you upgrade your oil pump as well? Any other information you can share before I purchase all the parts? Thanks!

I used all OEM Ford parts, with the exception of the oil pump. I work for Ford so that helps

My theory on this is that high rpms caused the failure of the new tensioners. Just the way they blew out seems like it happened under high stress like a wide open throttle situation. I’d highly recommend cast iron ones, I’m going to slip a pair of new ones in and chains/ sell the truck for a few bucks.

I bought the metal ones for my upcoming timing job. I need to get at it before summer hits, it's hot here in Texas.
