Got a 98 4.6 was starting a new intake r/r.
Broke off a small hose with a metal fitting down around the base of the Throttle body.
It actually rusted.
I need to investigate EXACTLY where it goes or its function, but I am guessing a TB warmer. ?
Checked YT for manifold replacement, never see anything about it.
Maybe some experienced folk out there more might know right off the top. ?

Thanks
JP

a warm and friendly welcome
I didn't think I had to welcome every member that was here on the forum before I joined.

Welcome to the forum.

Broke off a small hose with a metal fitting down around the base of the Throttle body.
I think you are talking about the crossover pipe. Pictures would be a big help since your description is a little vague.
I canceled the general thread and put the question in the correct category.
Is that ok ?
If you want someone to get a alert for a post like you wanted me to see post 4,
You must quote them like I did you here or you can mention them by putting the @ symbol in front of their name like this @FX4FOUR

Both of those things will send an alert to the member.

Thanks Yupster, i will take a look see what the condition of mine is. Any time I have done an intake on a Mustang or 4.6 5.4 I automatically just buy one of the intake valley metal hoses. I wouldn’t replace an intake and not do a WP and that bugger metal hose that runs to the rear.
Thank you much for the input.

Is it a coolant hose? Or is it a vacuum hose ? Ebay or a Junk Yard is your most likely source. Unless you can fabricate and press in your own fitting.

I have tracked the line that is broken/ rusted off. If anyone has encountered this perhaps you could respond with the proper nomenclature if my description is accurate.
The line starts from a coolant junction at the pass side rear of the tb elbow off the intake.
This small coolant line runs from the junction location to the front driver side fitting that has an active sensor ( coolant temp sensor ? ). Not to confuse with the coolant sensor located in the driver side head.
This small coolant line attaches to a fitting that sticks up out of the intake ( drivers side front) and has some type of temp sensor threaded on the top with a electrical connection.
Anyhow the small coolant line ( rubber) attached to the fitting had rusted and broke off the connection fitting.
Not really sure what the sensor is called and what function it serves.
I will try to get a photo.
Any help in identifying the sensor and fitting and perhaps a fix or delete would be appreciated.
Thanks folks. image.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpg
