Hi Bill - you seem to be the expert here so wanted to ask. I placed an order for a 22 XLT Max on 1/21 with my dealer and they signed a piece of paper saying they’d honor the z plan price (I’m a family member of the retiree and have a code, but cannot access the axz plan site). At the time of order, there wasn’t an estimate available of the z plan price so I wasn’t told a price.
I started being suspicious about the dealer bc they kept telling me the order was placed but the ford marketing center couldn’t find it. Then on 3/1 I got the confirmation email saying the order was confirmed on 3/1…1.5 months after I placed the order. Build date it mid may.
Then I reached out to the dealer yesterday to get the z plan price and he says that the price hasn’t been generated for this invoice…given my past experience I’m worried about getting cheated come delivery time on the price since they’ve not been able to confirm the price.
Any advice? Is this normal dealer behavior or should I be paranoid?
Many thanks!
While no expert, when your order was placed, you should have received a printout of the order with "preview order-xxxx-body/chassis code" to the right of that it should read "order summary", to the right of that a "date and time"
Below that should be the "Dealer Name" to the far right of that Sales code "Fxxxxx"
Below that should be your trucks build layout and options.
At the bottom of that you should be able to see a line marked discounts.
Below that you should see A/Z Plan D Plan X Plan
Below each of those is the net estimated price.
Now, all the way at the bottom is a place for a customer signature, and you will see another disclaimer that reads "this is not an invoice" Or you may see "this order has not been submitted to the order bank" (orders are usually placed online once or twice a week, some dealers, depending on their high or low volume for such things, may be different, time wise.
Now, with that said, all prices at this point are an estimate of what the window sticker (once generated) will read. There are disclaimers in the various "plans" verbiage that reads (paraphrasing here) "prices subject to change". Until a window sticker is generated, the pricing structure is up in the air. Sometimes it is in your favor (IE: an option price is lower than originally quoted), sometimes they are not (self explanatory).
If you do not have a copy of the above, then you need to request it....You will of course need to have your Ford generated plan "PIN" before you placed the order, otherwise none of the above is in play, only a dealers promise to sell it for "XXXX".
Again, not an expert, but have some experience with the process as a buyer, not a seller. Pretty much common sense once you can log in to the plan web page and read the terms and conditions, both for you as the qualified buyer, and the seller who took the order.
