Getting ready to go over 60,000 miles have had transmission problems reprogrammed ECM changed out valve body and now getting ready to replace transmission clutch. Very nervous about going over warranty with all these problems. Does anyone know if Ford will extend warranty on transmission? And if so how do you go about getting warranty extension. Thanks for any input/ideas

After multiple attempts to get mine right they just replaced it. They tried the valve body twice and replaced seals, tried rebuilding it and finally gave up.
The “new”one came with a 3 year warranty.
I woul not let them close out the service invoice after the clutch replacement until it has been drive enough to ensure it is good.
The problem is, every time they “worked” on mine it seemed to drive ok for a little while, then right back to the same old crap.
Maybe your dealership will do the right thing, and if it still has transmission problems at 62,000 miles they will consider it still part of the previous issue?

I would like some advice here. I've been researching this issue for the past month while our 2018 Expedition sat in the lot at ford. We had the Cam Phasers replaced under the extended warranty partial coverage. Leading up to this, we were experiencing transmission issues.

These included:
- Hard shift from 2-3, and other random upshifting
- No acceleration or raise in rpm from a dead stop...then clunk and go.
- Occasionally would not down shift from 7th gear to 1st when coming to a stop. Would just remain in 7th. I would have to shift it to park or Neutral to get it to go back to 1st.

Ford verified concerns. Pulled a sample of transmission fluid and said it was dirty. Mind you, we had the transmission serviced by a qualified mechanic when this problem began with a trans flush and new trans filter about 300 miles prior to going to ford. Our mechanic said the fluid was clean and no metal shavings. Nothing out of the ordinary and he too thought it was the throttle body.

Multiple mechanics mentioned throttle body issues. Ford said they're not showing any issues with it. Received call today after cam phasers were fixed and were working on transmission and that it has suffered a "catastrophic failure" with the problems described above and was sending in a claim to ford for assistance with financial support. Ford responded and didn't deny the claim, but stated the transmission will need to be pulled and disassembled and reported back to ford for them to make their decision. Of course, I had to approve the $1100 cost for this... What worries me is they will do this, pull the trans, the deny everything and im out the money for the pulled part as well as no transmission as they quoted an absurd amount for new trans.

Is this something I need a second opinion on? I posted this on a different thread, but didnt get any responses.

I'm new to the forum and haven't started searching old transmission posts yet. I have occasional clunks at low speeds (Reported to the dealer on my last visit with no verification from them) and issues at slow speeds with downshifts. I live in a hilly area and speed under 30 the truck just doesn't like to downshift from 5-7 to 2-4 to make driving more smooth. If I manually shift to 3rd gear it drives fine or if I stop it goes into 1st fine. Bias is heavy to upshifting quickly to 5-7 gears. It has been this way since new. I have a 2019 Platinum purchased new in Jan 2020. Any feedback, if this is expected "normal" behavior for these transmissions, would be appreciated.

My 2018 w/ 30,000 miles is in for these same issues. My Expedition would have a hard shift at various gears. It would rev high between shifting gears.

I'm also having the Customer Satisfaction Program 21B10, 21N03 AND 21N08 repairs done.

It is all covered by Ford. I also have the Compass Platinum extended warranty (84 month/ 75,000 mi)

Yup, you're not alone.

I have a 2020 Expedition, unfortunately, with 60,900 miles. It has developed a significant delay in shifting after sitting overnight or longer. I'll back out of the driveway into the street and then after shifting to drive, will wait 4-6 long seconds before it will suddenly decide to clunk forward. There are some other shifting issues when downshifting through an offramp. I've been referred by an independent mechanic to Ford after he looked at it. I'll be sure to follow others' reports.

I also needed to contact three different dealers to get an appointment. First two said their "Transmission Tech" was booked 30-60 days out! Ugh.

About five years ago I spoke to the transmission tech at my dealership. My dealer has what I would consider as having a high volume of service work. They had one transmission tech. He commented that in some cases they disassemble and make a repair, only to find the repair wasn’t successful, requiring them to pull the transmission a second time.
Moral of the story, it’s difficult to know real life time frame for work to be completed successfully. This was before COVID and presumably better supply channels of spare parts.
