Hey all,
I’ve had a humming/growl/grinding in my front driver wheel area (2017 XLT 4x4, 3/2” readylift, 1.5” hub centric wheel spacers, 295/70/r18 ridge grapplers on stock rims) for a few months and finally had some time and weather to investigate today. It only occurrs in 2wd, not any of the 4wd modes. I read a few of the threads, investigated the IWE system, checked for wheel “slop” like I’ve seen from FordMakuloco’s videos, nothing was truly tell-tale indicative of the hub or IWE system needing work besides the hum/growl/grind.
Once I opened it up, I found the half shaft pretty scored up, the interior of the hub didn’t look too bad, but I don’t see how else the axle would have been scored that way.
Anyway, looks like I’m up for some more wrenching. Anyone that’s done something similar, feel free to chime in, otherwise, I’ll document what I do for any that may encounter it in the future.
