Resale alone will pay for itself.
The only thing to consider on 2022 you lose the active park assist feature. Some people like it for tight spots or parallel parking. Personal preference though.

Gearing shouldn't be different, I think max comes standard with 3.73, but I could be wrong.
Standard gearing for the max is 3.31. Only 3.73 is standard with SPP, Timberline(ELSD) or to option any trim with heavy tow.

The 3.31 felt very sluggish in comparison to the 3.73 when I test drove them. Very noticeable.

Yes, get it. Wish I had it. The fuel economy difference (which would potentially be the only benefit without it) is immeasurable. I don’t know why they sell any vehicle like this without such a thing.

My '21 Limited has the HD Tow. Mine is not a daily driver or a grocery getter as it's just our family vehicle. I do tow a 6k lb boat/trailer a couple times a year. It's great for that tow. I also enjoy the extra get up and go it has. Even if I didn't tow at all, I'd still want the package. My .02.

Yes, I would recommend. HD Tow package also gives you a rear locking diff on my 2018....corrected. Thanks!

We just purchased a 2019 with the HD tow. We went out of our way to get one with that option. My husband liked the different gear ratio and the beefed up cooling system. We have Ford pickups so probably won't pull that often with it but it's nice to know we can. With three growing kiddos, the pickup can get crowded on longer trips. The Max pulls like a pickup but seats like a minivan. Everyone is happy! Like someone else said, better to have it and not need it.

Just to clarify. Expeditions don’t get a locking differential with a pin like the f150. They have an electronic limited slip with clutch plates. They are good, but only simulate locking.

UP graded engine and trans cooling are worth it in my book. Plus a factory brake controller and hitch are nice to have. I always try to order the Tow Package on all my vehicles just due to the upgraded cooling, some add in a bigger alternator also.
