I looked at the AT4's but then read the reviews on their lifter/rod engine issues, and electrical...staying away!
Does GMC still run the cylinder deactivation mechanism (active fuel management) on their V8s? I had a Tahoe with the 5.3L and that was the WORST engine I've ever had in an SUV.

As far as I know, they have changed the 5.3 from the active fuel management system to the dynamic fuel management system. Whatever that means lol

I am thinking about calling Ford Marketing to inquire about my order. When and if I call them, is this department the right people to ask for order updates? I guess the idea of calling "marketing" for an order update seems off - but seems like it's the way :)

Placed order 1/17, and still waiting for a production update. Only got an order confirmation e-mail and a delay in production email on 3/18.

You could also ask your dealer. They can see that date in the system. My dealer showed me mine when I asked (supposedly next week). As someone has mentioned previously, you will be paying the dealer a lot of money, they should be more than willing to help you!

It is a waste of time to call the "marketing department" and that you are even calling a marketing department to get a status update is ridiculous. Ford's treatment of customers is abysmal. Ordered my Platinum on 11/2 original production date of 2/4 no update until 3/18 when I received notice that they were "doing additional quality checks". Have since found out that additional quality checks means chip hold. Almost two months now and no update. Why is for not communicating? Why can they not, at a minimum, explain what they are doing. The only reason I can think of is that they just don't care. They are using chip shortage issue to hide behind awful management and customer service. Interesting that the executive team has been touting that they gave away an F-150 Lightning on the Ellen show. I am sure the person really deserved it but, working with Ellen, who is known for bad behavior and poor management and mistreatment of staff? Or actually, maybe that makes sense. Maybe Ellen is helping them with their customer service.

Yes that's who Ford says to call. Just be prepared to be disappointed in their lack of actually providing any information. In my experience, calling has only added to the frustration with this process.

so, running some math here...if based on the numbers from the BlueOval forum, where Expy production is close to 2,640 units a week. Figure on the months of March and April as true production months...given the delayed start up...and to make damn sure they have the parts to assemble the trucks. That's roughly 13,200 units a month. But if you look at Ford sales...they only logged 1917 and 1971 sales of Expeditions in March and April (which may have some leftover 2021s in there too). So that is only roughly 15% of what was produced. Yeah, some could be in transit or sitting unsold on lots with markups...but its in their best interest to get them to dealers to get the sales. So, the other roughly 85% of units are unsold. Or as we all know...waiting on chips and/or wiper motors. That's over 11,000 units a month going to into the backlog. Which to the earlier point...when you are opening ordering books in late October...scheduling initial production in late January/early Feb...stacking the deck against your customers and dealers.

Note too one of the BoF folks said they are short 7000 wiper motors so far, that is a TON of stacked inventory.

Well, called the CSX tracking system and my expedition is already in Mesquite, TX, our closest rail yard. Hopefully we can get a carrier relatively quickly to pick up the car and get it to Lampasas.
