Has anyone had the ticking turbo/wastegate actuator replaced under warranty?

I took mine in for the same issue you are stating. I was dealing with Ford and they told me because it is not throwing a code or causing any drivability issues that they would NOT replace the turbos.

I was pissed off as well, so pissed off that I traded it in and got a 2022 because my wife loves the car. I have since called ford back and told them that the 2021 isn't making the noise the 2020 was.

I am sorry an 80,000 vehicle shouldn't have a rattle sound like a damn heat shield is ready to fall off.

I was and still am so pissed off at Ford. All you can do is keep complaining and don't take no for an answer and hope they agree to replace it. I tried and was getting nowhere and all it was doing was stressing me out.

Mine was replaced with no argument at all. About 40,000 miles ago.

At first they tried the TSB, and it didn’t help. These turbo wastegates wear out a pivot point that is internal to the turbo. The external linkage does also rattle but only because of the inside getting sloppy.

There are YouTube videos out there showing what is wearing out and rattling inside the turbo.

Both my turbos were replaced.
It was nirvana. Smooth. Silent except for the menacing whistle of the twin turbos spooling up under throttle.
Noticeably stronger pull when accelerating. Exactly what I was hoping for.
The sound when starting up cold was absolutely perfect. Just the soft rumble of the exhaust note.

That lasted maybe 10 months.
Now they sound just like before, maybe louder. They also chatter when you blip the throttle anytime.
But on the bright side, you can’t hear them on a cold start, because the slapping of the cam phasers is so loud it drowns them out—-for at least 2 seconds.

Oh, almost forgot. Also fun, is taking it back to have them remove and reinstall one of the turbos because the coolant line fitting was leaking causing a nice baked antifreeze aroma, and frequent puddles under the truck.

Ford wouldn’t fix your vehicle and you are “so pissed off at Ford”, so you went and bought another Ford?

Hey all, just got the truck back and both turbo's have been replaced. I have to say, its nice not to hear this noise and the power delivery is much smoother when leaning into the gas pedal.
