Michelins are $150 off a set of 4 installed at Costco yet again. This will probably be the last time they run this promo until January.

I got Jack Williams to match the Costco black Friday sale. I paid something around 950 plus tax for the Michelin Defender LTX based on a few of the recommendations here. They are a bit louder than the Michelin Primacys that were previously on the car but other than that they are ok.

If anyone is interested, I can comment how they work in the snow in the next three months.

Also if anyone is interested in long term data, I will post back how many miles I got out of them.

I just went with the cooper discoverer at3 4s. I have the 22s so not many choices but I liked a lot of the reviews on here and liked that I was buying good ol USA. So far I love them.
Sadly, looks like Goodyear may have just bought Cooper. We'll see what that does to the brand.

You are correct. Just got the e-mail today. Hopefully Goodyear doesn't cheapen the product. I get the sense that the tire market is very competitive and the costs are tied to materials and product development costs. Every time I've paid more for a tire, even within the same brand, I've gotten a better tire. I tried cheaper Yokohomas once and immediately noticed the difference. I tried cheaper Continentals and they weren't as good as the Yokohama. My Coopers are the most expensive tire I've every purchased, but they're much better than the Hankooks I had before. The tire market might really be a case of getting what you pay for.

Yeah, I hear ya! I used to pay far more for my BFG AT's and MT's than I paid for my Coopers, even today. A lot of it is the materials, composition, and amount of materials, but my BFG's almost never made it even half way through their pro-rated mileage warranty. While smaller companies must pass on their higher costs, my hope is the smaller companies care more about the customer (maybe a little). The larger the company, the smaller the customer.
