Ford generally calls for fluid service at 150,000 but many people disagree and feel it should be done sooner. I service mine at about 100,000, but many do them every 60,000 or less. Today's synthetic fluid holds up well, but I often feel performance changes long before the recommended interval.Someone also told me I need a transmission “service “. It has 89k miles.
I thought it was the gasket but the local shop lifted it up and showed me that it's coming from those o-rings. I was told that is the most common place for a trans leak on these vehicles.Look at the transmission bulkhead connector. That's the fitting that leads the wiring into the transmission. They fit in with two o-rings that leak, and Ford has a kit to fix them. The leak runs around the pan, making it appear that the pan gasket is leaking. Common problem, but the pan has to come off to replace.
Make sure it's not a power steering leak before you rip into the transmission.
