I ordered my 2022 Expedition in November. When Ford send me the notice that it was in production it was for February. Then several weeks later they said it was "in Production" 3/17. It had an ETA of 4/7. They have now removed the ETA and there is none. I call the Ford marketing department several times over the past month. I have a VIN number but the people that answer the phone ask the SAME questions each time and it takes 5 minutes. When I get pissed off at the slowness of the process, they finally say they will put me on hold and after 5 minutes they tell me the same thing as I see on the customer ford order status page - https://shop.ford.com/vehicleordertracking/status/?vin=.

They then tell me the last time their data was updated was on 3/17 but they could tell me the car was on Chip hold with no idea as to when it would get cleared. They then tell me I should talk to the Ford dealer and ask them to talk to the Ford Dealer Rep. When I ask the dealer they tell me the same thing that I know and say that Ford and the Ford Dealer rep give them no information.

The dealer told me that he has seen NO 2022 Expeditions and that he is seeing the same problem with the F-150s where he has January orders that are scheduled for delivery at the end of May.

I can understand that there are supply chain issues. However, Ford should at least give us a Worst Case Delivery date and live by it. They have to know what chips they are short of and when the supplier promises to deliver them. They should communicate that to the dealers and the customers.

The question I have is since minimal money has changed hands, how long before Ford feels a financial pinch and how can the dealers stay in business if they cannot get any product?

In my mind this will be the last time I purchase a product from an American car company. At least if you purchase a car manufactured outside of the US you can get it soon than 6 (going on several more) months.

I am in the same position as you. Marketing tells me the same, my dealership tells me the same. I can also tell you, I have tracked many Expeditions that were produced earlier this month, that were dealer orders, that we built, completed, and have already shipped, while a ton sit offsite. They are now scheduling a bunch of new customer orders to be built next week as well. Dealerships are making their money right now on used vehicles. Also, dealerships do not make the majority of their money from the sale of cars. They make their money on service, parts, and accessories. Plus, if you had to leave a deposit, whish I did of $1,000, that is probably all the dealership is making off the vehicle, which is why they don't care when it comes in, because they already got their money. Think about it, if they sell 100 cars to preorder, they just made themselves $100K. My dealership told me from the beginning, that if I back out, I don't get my deposit back until they were to sell the vehicle to someone else. Which means they have already deposited that check and moved on. Doesn't seem there is anyone you can speak to either to try and get better answers either. At this point, patience is the name of the game. There are thousands of Expeditions sitting offsite, so we are not the only ones dealing with this. I just think its wrong that they will leave those offsite, and manufacture new ones and send those out, without completing what is just sitting there, but that's just me.

That does me no good. My order is still on chip hold with ZERO communication from Ford. By the time I get it the 2023s will be out.

My chip hold says April 24 to April 30th, if that helps. My unit was built on the 29th of March.
did chip hold last just that week or did it go longer? mine just got a date assigned to its in production status (8/22) but now dealer told me status is "sent offsite" which from what I am seeing means chip or some other part hold. trying to figure out if these holds are still as bad now in AUG 2022 as they were earlier in the year or if they have made progress on catching up on holds better now
