They better get a fix for this pronto. A significant proportion of these vehicles are family cars--many of which carry small infants in car seats. If you're not familiar with infant car seats, most don't have a single "release" button, they have possibly two or more...and...most of the children strapped into them cannot release themselves, they require a parent or older sibling to assist them. Now visualize a mother driving her children to school/day care/whatever and a fire breaks out in the engine compartment. Panic will surely ensue with stopping somewhere safely, being able to free her children (perhaps from the third-row), and evacuate them while under duress.

...Meanwhile Ford suggests not driving them or parking them in the garage or near the house. Can they be any more out of touch with the day-to-day reality of their customers?

I was a pretty big Ford fan. I've owned lots over the years but the way they are handling this is giving me a sour taste. They don't seem to care. The right way to do this would be to put every impacted owner in a rental until there is a fix. And if they cannot fix them then buy them back!!

I have a 2021 King Ranch Max born Feb 2021 and got the same notice from Ford Canada about the potential for a under-hood fire. The recall is written in such away as to transfer Ford’s Liability to me if I fail to comply. I wrote Ford to say that I refuse to accept the transfer of liability period. I know its a case of “peeing” into the wind but if all Ford owners wrote action would expedited. I also wonder what my insurance company would say/do in the event of a fire that damaged 3rd party property now that Ford has issued the recall.

PS Ford issued a windshield wiper recall in April 2022…..still no word when the parts will be available.

In my many, many years of driving and vehicle ownership, this Ford fire safety recall is the first one that I can recall that has no remedy (not just the parts aren’t available yet.).

The safety recall is a rather serious one - and I’m amazed that Ford isn’t trying to help their customers more that are affected.

I suspect part of the issue is that Ford is selling everything they can manufacture, so they don’t really need to work hard to attract customers?

There certainly have been a few others like this from other manufacturers, just you aren’t focused on them since they probably didn’t affect you. My stinger had one for a similar fire risk, had something to do with the abs module and nearby components. Got the same “park outside away from structure” notices, got fixed after about a 6 month wait on final fix. The Airbag issue hit many manufacturers, rec was to not allow a front seat passenger to limit risk and loss of life. A cts-v I had got hit with both the airbag and fuel pump connector shorting out recall at the same time. Had to drive it for 3 months waiting on fixes, worried me that it might catch fire and lose electrical power suddenly that could result in an accident in which the air bags might or might not deploy.

Hyundai and Kia both had several vehicles recalled just recently for randomly catching on fire. The same advice was given to owners to park them outside. But they had a specific fix for it, something to do with the anti-lock brakes. Unfortunately, Ford has no fix at this point.

Nope, Ford is letting all us owners hang out to dry. I'm pretty sour on them right now. This is a BIG deal and they certainly aren't giving the impression of any sense of urgency.

My wife’s Hyundai had this, but if I remember correctly, on the first notice, they either didn’t have parts or they didn’t have they didn’t have the fix completed yet. The first notice is probably to reduce liability while they are planning and testing the fix.
