I began noticing the ride on our 2018 Expy Platinum getting stiffer and stiffer over the past few months. Hitting a manhole cover sends vibrations through the cabin every time. I remember the truck riding smoother earlier in its life.

In our neck of the woods, the roads are anything but smooth. I was wondering if anyone else in the Northeast has noticed a degraded quality of ride after 60k miles.

I know the shocks may be designed for the life of the vehicle, but they certainly do wear out well before then.

I’m wondering as well. I’ve got the CCD shocks and at 70k and all 4x are original. I see you have a Platinum so you’ve got them as well. One shock did trip a fault and I’ve got to bring it in to the dealer since it’s still under Warranty but would anyone know if Ford changes them in pairs? Some car companies do have set repair instructions for how many miles or more that they must be done per pair but not sure about Ford.

Negative on pairs. I have a fault on a front and they only put that one on it. So annoying. I offered to buy the other side, and it was going to be $800 and a month wait, so I said forget it.

I've had my driver side front shock throw a code. CCD would reset on all four shocks as a result into super-stiff setting. They ended up replacing the bad shock. Never heard of replacing bad shocks in pairs.

I have never heard anyone say shocks were a lifetime item? I really think all shocks are worn out and tired after 40-60k. Even if you go crazy nice and get Kings, Fox they don't say they will last a lifetime without a rebuild, only thing with them is they are rebuildable.

I had 3 rear shocks completely blow out on my Expedition and finally replaced them with Bilsteins. No issues since.
