Hello, I have a 2006 Expedition 5.4 3v. At the moment I am chasing a vacuum leak related to loosing cold air at a higher rpm then the cold air comes back. I have attached a picture a of a vacuum component but I don't know what this is called. Can some one tell me what this piece is called and where the other end goes to.

Thank you in advance for any help! Steve

Why is your hot water valve vacuum control line attached to the pivot shaft on the hot water valve ? Attach it where it belongs and you will cure your issue. If the issue persists I would invest in a smoke test machine and smoke test your intake system to find the leak(s).

Ok I learned what that component is called. And I don't have a clue what your talking about the pivot shaft. Illl try smoking it out. My ac was working fine last week. I havent connected nothing. I did take the small vacuum line of what you call the hot water valve because I found the other end off. Thats why I ask where the other end would go.

Thanks

The other end of the hot water valve vacuum line goes through a grommet in the firewall just below the PCM on the passenger side of the engine bay. These lines get broke a lot when people aren't careful with the battery installation, or other work in the area.

I had the same issue. The thin hard plastic line had cracks in it.
Input a soft vacuum line over it and use heat shrink to seal it.
Works great now

69Mach it looks like you're missing a check valve from your repaired line. Probably not a big issue, unless you have a 4 x 4 .

Yeah, there’s always been a line with a cap on it
Runs good going to replace the vacuum lines from reserve tank.

I’m a little late to the conversation… that component missing a vacuum line you were wondering about is for cruise control.
