Looking to buy something in the $150 range not a professional type thing. Curious what you recommend/what to look for when buying one?

Well, ForScan is specifically Ford oriented app. If you have a laptop and buy the USB to OBDII cable the app is free, or you can opt to buy the extended license that gives you access to more stuff.
If you don't want to deal with a laptop I would suggest BlueDriver . The app is a free download but the proprietary OBDII adapter is $85 or so over on Amazon.
