Hi Everyone,

I recently purchased a used '99 Expedition XLT 4.6L after my 2000 GMC Jimmy's transmission finally gave out @ 308K miles... I guess I got lucky with timing as my neighbor was selling one of his old Expy's as he wanted to get rid of one. I grabbed the '99 w/ 173K miles on her and I love this big boy!

I just want to fix up the back fenders or pretty much just hide the rust... I've looked online everywhere and have had 0 luck as everything comes up for F150's, 250's, etc.. I just want a rear pair that is at least 3".

You can see what I mean in the picture, pretty sure even 2" would be enough. I'd love to get one of those large pairs I've seen all over with the "Bolt-On" style even though I know 50% of them are probably just glued on and the bolts are cosmetic... but can't find them... grrr!

Update: I did find a set of 4 online that looked pretty basic and will do the trick. I will post pictures when I'm finished putting them on, they arrive Friday so hopefully it's not too hot out this weekend. Just wanna hide the little bit of rust on those back fender arches... It's not horrible looking but it will look a lot nicer when it's concealed.
I had to knock a lot of rust out from under the doors, I've read where those bad spots are that can corrode and I've done my best to clean it up and conceal with some cheap rubber "protective" pad-strips that were meant for the back bumper heh.

I would love to see what other's have done with their 1st Gen Expy's in regards to Fender Flares/Molding and whatever. This is the first thing cosmetically for this vehicle... and for 173K miles I can't complain.. in fact I'm loving this truck!

Got my fender flares in and I'll only be using the back pair since the front fenders are spotless.

Also been adding a few emblems, I know they are silly but I needed one to hide the remains of an old bumper-sticker that must have faded into the back's paint... So I ordered a 9.5" Ford Flag Emblem hehe.

I hope to get the fender flares on sometime this week, hopefully this upcoming week isn't as hot as last week!

I also knocked a lot of rust out from under the doors both sides, the Driver-Side was pretty much gone as far as under the rocker panel driver's door. I did my best to knock it off and either curl it back or just snip it off since I don't want to slide out 1 day and rip my pants or cut my leg... So I've put some protective rubber strips meant for the bumper or some weird area... Felt like this was the best I could do for now.

And they are on!

Before I did anything I hit the rusty spots with some Rust Neutralizer from the auto part store and after 24hrs the rust was gone, the metal turned black, and the stuff works good. I wouldn't go as far as trying to drill a hole or placing a clamp but it felt and looked nice with no rust.

I only put the back pair on as the front looks fine without them, I'll save or re-sell the front pair.

But I popped the driver's side one on pretty quickly, was fairly easy to line up the new fender flare with the existing mud flap screws on the back side and really just secure the plastic to the fender with the self-tap screws they provided... I think I used one or two of my own for extra leverage.

I did not put the 2 clamps (1 each side) on as the Passenger Side's Fender had so much rust/corrosion there would be nothing to clamp to. I may tap another screw or two in before the winter but they seem 100%.

Hopefully nobody cracks into me or wacks there door into my truck since they are only plastic and getting my hands on the rear set cost $$$ more than I wanted to spend because I had to order the front set and all 4-together.

Anyway there's my '99 Expy with the fender flares!

That looks really nice. What else are you planning on doing to it?
