I was think this morning driving to work about the deleted options due to chip shortage. I am buying mine through X plan so a price was agreed upon before order. I do not know if price is agreed upon without X plan order if someone could chime in.

Since these options are at a cost if I were to buy on a dealers lot then I am thinking Ford needs to adjust the price or add the chip once available to my vehicle. If I were to request the chip to add back these options I am sure dealer would say there is a cost.

Does this sound fair or legal that Ford can delete without making me whole in some way??

Sounds like possible class action suit.

I'm in the same situation. I expect that the x-plan price at the time I ordered would be reduced by the removed sticker amount. The vehicle I will be receiving is 'less' than what I ordered. So, I do expect a price reduction for what was removed.

I emailed a person at ford corporate offices to see if Ford has addressed this topic yet? I do not not think in the eyes of a jury this would seem fair to consumers.

I ordered a Platinum December 21. Ford finally built it June 22. At that time, the window sticker became available and it showed several options deleted: Park assist, rear HVAC control, hands free hatch and Massage Seating. There were price adjustments, I don’t remember all, but Ford credited $300 for the removal of the Massage seating. Which is kind of a rip off, because you can still add massage seats to the second row of the Navigator for $575 or so. The price of that truck dropped over a grand. Of course, Ford removed a bunch of the options that made Platinum a Platinum.
So if your looking for a White, 4x4, “Platinum” with heavy duty tow, minus those options. Mullinax Ford in Kissimmee has one coming in very soon, that I just told them I wasn’t taking.
For me, Ford may have successfully sold me a 23 Denali Ultimate, which just added massage seating.

I test drove the 2021 Denali and the Suburban which is why I ordered the Expedition. However, I wouldn't be accepting a Platinum without a much bigger discount. It would be one thing if the deleted options would get installed eventually and they were giving you a credit to say sorry it hasn't finished yet. But if they want to just remove for that price then they can keep it.

As a fellow X-Plan order/member, I can tell you, now that mine is delivered, that the only item not installed on mine was the foot operated, hands free, rear hatch opening feature. I did not get a credit on it, and it was not even mentioned on the window sticker. Quite frankly, I could care less, as I have always found such items a nuisance than an added benefit. For those that have major features, such as the massage seats, or rear entertainment center removed (seats are out of Fords control, as their sole supplier, the one that came to them with the idea for an option, went belly up and they are having difficulty finding another vendor to produce them in a timely fashion), Ford will offer some type of line item credit, as it has been reported before, is it what you paid on a retail level, no, but it is a portions of their base cost for the massage portion itself that will not be installed (IE: you still get a seat, just not with the massage feature).

As for talks of class action lawsuit, I highly doubt it, as you the purchaser, has the right to reject the vehicle when it comes in. Ford does not control their supply chain, and that is what stops the talk of a lawsuit in it's tracks, or an automotive vulture firm would already have it on the books. Also, a dealer will happily give you your deposit back, as they have buyers (retail and other dealers) lined up waiting for such vehicles, who could care less whether the seats or entertainment system is installed.

You actually aren't missing any items Bill. The 2022 XLT isn't able to get the foot activated hands free lift gate in any package to include the special edition one we both got. In prior years I think you could get it but that has changed. Only item my build was missing was the auto start stop and I was credited $50 for it. I was okay without that feature.

Interesting, the original dealer order guide showed the hands free liftgate in my set of packages. As for the auto start/stop, I specifically ordered mine without it. Had a rental with it last July in Florida, works as advertised, but when stuck at a traffic light, and the motor turns off, so did the AC. Do this during rush hour, stop and go traffic, between the hospital a family member was at, and their home (IE: 30 miles), and it made for a rough and hot commute, every day, for two solid weeks.
