Had to share this awesome phone mount setup I stumbled onto in case it helps others.

I find the wireless charger a pain to reach, and it isn’t consistent even with a Apple mag safe case installed so I never use it. I have a wireless car play adapter as well so I never plug into the USB ports in the ”charging bay” for CarPlay, I tend to just use a lightning cable plugged into a 12v to USB adapter in the center console and just leave the cable dangling. My phone just ends up laying on the console, occasionally plugged into the dangling cable.

For whatever reason I looked into mounting instead and found something I hadn’t seen here that I recall. Offroam makes a mount that doesn’t require taking any dash components apart, it just clamps onto the corner of one of the vents and has a ball to mount a phone holder to. I then bought a mag safe mount with a compatible socket so now I have a magnetic mount installed in 2 minutes that isn’t in the way, is clean, and can also charge my phone if I want to plug in the magnetic mount or the phone! Found this on another forum and figured I’d give it a try. Completely out of the way of the display, buttons, the vent operates 100% normal, and it looks clean (IMO). Highly recommend if anyone is looking for phone mounting solutions!

Do you find that it blocks the airflow from the vent at all? I'm OCD about having the air blow on me directly when driving, so seeing all these mounts just makes me wonder if i'd regret it. This one looks to be the least invasive i've seen yet...

Would you be able to measure the diameter of that ball on that mount? I'm not sure if they are all universal in size. I have a good phone holder, but the ball mount sucks. I like yours.

did you by any chance try one of the lower corners of a vent, or does it only work in the upper corners?

I didn’t like some others for that reason but this doesn’t seem bad at all. It does make getting to the vent adjuster a little less easy, but I also have big hands. Overall I’d absolutely recommend this and don’t feel it impacts the vent enough to make a difference.

Offroam makes different sizes. The one I chose was 17mm because I guess that is a common size used by Garmin for their mounts, so kind of a “standard”.

Ordered one so I could find a decent place to put my phone.
I have to say that is a fine piece of hardware. Machining and operation is excellent.
