I've pretty much tried to stick with Motorcraft Oil Filters for my '21 Limited (FL-500S). For at least the last 6-8 months, I've been having a heck of a time finding them in stock anywhere. I do see them in stock at Amazon. I ordered one off of Amazon and that came to me with such lousy packaging that the filter was damaged in shipping so I won't be doing that again.

Finally, yesterday in Autozone, I asked about the supply shortage. The gal behind the counter said it's a nationwide thing because Ford had voluntarily recalled them for unknown reasons. Since I had not seen or heard of a Motorcraft recall, I thought I'd dig deeper. I can't find ANYTHING online anywhere about a recall. I'd like to give her the benefit of the doubt since she works in an autoparts store (industry insight?) but you'd think it would be posted somewhere.

Anyone else seeing supply issues? I'm east coast (MD). Any other insight?

Amazon, Walmart, and rock auto all have them in stock. Prices have gone up a bit but they are available.

I’d bet the information provided by the AutoZone employee was made-up or simply a rumor.

If it was me - I would have tried to pin her down for specific, factual information.

Rockauto.con has a case of 12 for $4.14 a filter. Also gives you options for alternatives or higher performance filters. I stick with OEM on my vehicles where required (damn you Kia/Hyundai/Genesis) and run Wix on all other vehicles. Stay away from Fram, Wix was recently acquired by the Puralator owners so I’m hoping cost cutting/quality doesn’t start dropping.

Puralator makes the motorcraft filters too.

I have a couple of vehicles with the Ecoboost and perform my own oil changes, so I order a couple dozen at a time to have ample stock for this very reason. I can't stand waiting on backordered parts even though its starting to become the norm and fact of life, especially when dealing with classic cars such as 65-66 Mustangs.

Idk what you guys are talking about. I just ordered 4 of these filters, they came in 2 days. I don’t trust the source, some person behind a register probably just “said it” because 80% of everything is blamed for the same reason.

My local walmart hasn't had any fl-500 filters for quite some time now. I was there yesterday and checked again and still none.
