This is precisely what I am trying to accomplish. Not increase tow ability. Just add to the trucks stability while within the proper load and tow ranges. Increased off road performance would be nice also. I will accept a change in ride comfort.

I had no plans to level or lift my FX4 so I went with a 275x70x18 which is an inch taller than the stock tires but the same width. I lost about 1 mpg on the highway at posted speed limits. Braking is not bad even with about a 7 lb increase in weight per tire. Speedometer is off only 1 mph less according to a GPS. Close enough for me! Running at 42 psi cold will give you a ride not much rougher than stock tires. Put about 6K miles on the BFG's and pleased with them so far. Had the old TA/KO's in the past and really liked them so I went with the new version.

Off road performance typically involves very low tire pressure well below "sticker pressure" and in some applications down toward 10psi.

Not sure this was mentioned but maximum cold tire pressure is not maximum tire pressure. Warm or hot tires can acquire a higher pressure all on their own in use. Don't take air from hot tires to get back down to max cold pressure.

My 17 was the same. I only had 28k miles and I replaced the Wranglers that I kept at 35 PSI, yet the tires said 51. If I new then what I know now - I would have ran @ 42 and kept the tires for a few more years. I suggest you set them at 35 and do a chalk test. They would prob be just right @ 40, but again suggest you do a chalk test. That's the only way to find out. I wish I had known this years ago. It would have saved me money.

Anyone know what the tire pressures are?
The decal says 35 for all but from the Factory it has 50psi.

Is the decal a general psi and it depends on the tires? Does the TPS alter for over pressure

For my purposes which are street driving and occasional towing (6-7k) load I have my Timberline's factory Goodyears at 45 in rear and 42 up front. The dealer had them at 36psi all the way around and it felt a little too sloppy for my taste. Feels great where I have them running now and yes the pressure jumps 3-4 pounds when the tires get hot at highway speed.
