Started getting a bad misfire on cylinder 8. Did all the plugs and coils. Luckily the previous owner (I bought it with 190k miles) had done the plugs, probably on schedule. None of the plugs broke. Here's cylinder 8. Probably had a few more miles in it LOL

Bear in mind I drove 150 miles on 7 cylinders. I know, I know... I didn't really have a choice.

Anyone old enough to remember the spark plug cleaning machines?

I never cleaned any spark plugs - always replaced them. But I had several friends that would remove and clean them, and reinstall. It’s been a while...........

Things burned so rich in the old days, you cleaned them with every points change, well before they were worn out. And if you were burning oil, you cleaned them more often, so you could get the old oil burner to run.

JC Whitney sold the old Aldor spark plugs that would fire in oil if you really had a burner...

years ago had one made by champion spark plugs, even had a tester to check how the plug fired after cleaning, probably had a coil inside.had different size rubber adaptors for larger plugs where the grit shot up to do the cleaning. had lots of fun getting some one to put finger in the hole then hit it with the air, also touch where the spark tester was and hit the button and see the persons eyes get very big. I know us guys were son of a guns.

Just did mine recently at 206,000 miles, 2 of mine looked just like that. Also glad that previous owner had the spark plug issue fixed while they had it because my local ford was gonna charge me $800 if they had to re thread everything.
