Hi everyone, I have a 2007 Ford Expedition and the last owner didn’t really keep up with the oil changes so it’s a little sludged up. Could I use bg oil treatment or would that cause more damage? The truck has 117,000 miles.

I wouldn't. Oil treatments, seafoam, most of that stuff is snakewater. Best thing you can do to address previously conducted regular maintenance is to start performing regular maintenance.

I would not use any oil treatment.

I would change the oil and filter, using synthetic oil (not synthetic blend or convential oil), and a Motorcraft (or very high quality) oil filter.

Synthetic oil has high cleaning ability and may help clean-up the sludge. After the change, you may want to change it again in 3,000 miles - including the filter, as it may get partially clogged from the cleaning.

There is no such thing as a mechanic in a can.

I've seen videos of seafoam cleaning sludge up enough to stop lifter clatter. Just know that sludge in the heads can break off and possibly clog an oil gallery that feeds a bearing.
