I know a few have changed out their front shocks. I need to do that because of leaks and am not going to put OEM back on.

I’m trying to find out what the torque settings are for all the bolt/nuts that need removing, and what really needs removing to get the shock/strut out.

I know there are a few threads on this, but couldn’t find torque settings (the rears were pretty straightforward, apart from getting 400 ft-lbs on the shock lower mounting bolt!).

what really needs removing to get the shock/strut out.

FRONT SHOCK ABSORBER INSTALLATION

To replace the front shocks on an Expedition you will first need to remove the nuts on the top of the shock. This can be accessed from under the hood of the vehicle or by the side with a wrench. The next bolt to remove is the lower bolt that runs through the lower control arm. Once removed the shock can then be removed from the vehicle. The new shock can then be moved back into the vehicle the same way the old one came out. Once the new shock is installed you can then start installing the bolts and nuts. The upper nut can be installed the same way that it had been removed and should be torqued to 30 ft-lbs. The lower bolt may need to be aligned and pounded back into place. If you must hammer on the bolt be sure not to ruin the threads, once the bolt is through it can be torqued to 406 ft-lbs, It is recommend using some red loctite and a large pipe in order to get it tightened this much.

I'm pretty sure this is not correct (that's a quote from a web site which seems to mix the older model with the new - I believe the lug nut torque on 4th gen is 150 ft-lbs, not 125). The lower mount, if I recall, has two bolts seeing an image of someone on the forum who had done it, and the axle shaft nut removing.

Found it: https://www.expeditionforum.com/threads/bilstein-5100-lift-install.39871/

They ended up using the F150 shocks, but it's the bolts that need removing and the torque settings that I'm after. The axle nut seems to be very small, and don't want to over-torque it.

Hi Juan, I know this is an old post, but I was wondering if you could help me. I see you listed the front shock or bolt torque setting to be 406 foot pounds. I believe that is for the shock that is held in by one bolt going across. On my 2015 Platinum the front shock is secured in place by two bolts that go down. They look much smaller than the bolt that goes across on the other style shocks, but I cannot find a torque specification anywhere. Would you happen to know what the 2015 Platinum front shock torque setting is for the lower bolts?
