If they don't wanna show up to work, the companies should be allowed to hire someone who wants to show up.
Sigh.
Ha. Easier said than done... Especially on the Railroad. Try hiring anyone for anything right now that requires physical presence at work. The American workforce is a bit of a mystery to me right now.

Even for those who do show up, there's the recent mass 'quiet quitting' movement in the workplace.....

My expedition just arrived. I still have not reached a final agreement once I am really firm in what I am asking in my trade-in - the first impression of the multimedia was great and very responsive; however, the interior materials look a downgrade compared to 2019, to be honest. Any thoughts?

I was told by my dealer that if you have a submitted order for a '22 that Ford rolls over to a '23, Ford must give you the same pricing as the '22 you ordered.
I ordered a ‘23 a couple of weeks ago, dealer wrote it up but said the pricing was not available so he used the ‘22 prices and asked me for a deposit to guarantee that price. I also have an x-plan number, but now I suspect that pricing will be based on the ‘23 invoice and may actually be higher than the ‘22 price he gave me. Hmmm.

I don't have mine yet. So don't have direct experience. But I had checked out a few F-150s that had the same Sync multimedia hardware and version as the 22 expedition. Yes, although they are a big improvement over the prior year model expedition, they are not as good as some of the other car manufacturers that are almost as good as swiping an iPad.

If he accepted payment from you in return for an order with a specified guaranteed price and does not plan to honor that guarantee, you should have him cancel the order, return your deposit, and head (run) to another dealer. I would also file a complaint with corporate, and see if they might be able to offer a price accommodation.

Many dealers do not ask for a deposit — I wasn't asked for one on my '22 order.

I have a different view, especially as it relates to your advice to "file a complaint" and "cancel the order." WannabeMtb has an X plan PIN so he'll be paying 3-4k less than whatever the pricing on his 2023 order ends up being so he's ahead of the game. This is a sellers market and Dealers sell the cars. "Corporate" does their best to supply them and support them.

A good deal is when both parties are happy enough to do business. If he follows your suggestion he may get a slightly better deal in writing, but be delayed months in having the opportunity to actually do business and move onto the fun part of ownership. My suggestion is that he continues to work with the dealer he shook hands with and stay the course.

Two things can be true at the same time. Both your advice and my advice may be "right."

Wouldn't he get that same discount if the dealer honored the '22 price? if so he's out ~$3.5K from that 'guaranteed' price. If he goes to another dealer he only loses a couple weeks from his current order.

If a dealer makes a guarantee and then reneges, it's a red flag; I personally wouldn't trust working with a dealer or any business that has proven untrustworthy. If they don't honor anything they say you don't know what kind of crap they might pull when the car is finally delivered and you need to finalize the purchase.
