Hello I'm working on my 2004 expedition I have to replace the engine because of a broken connecting rod that cracked the block. The people at the junkyard sold me an engine from 02 expedition well I'm installing it and I'm finding that there's a difference where the power steering pump mounts. I'm thinking it would be possible to mount the power steering pump in the lower position but I'm worried that the pump will hit the steering rack because the older model has a linkage and not rack and pinion. Has anyone done this before? Will it work? I'm thinking that I'll need to use a different oil filter adapter and the belt and belt routing from the older truck. Thanks

Do you see the Ford part number along with the "PI" embossed under the part number on the heads of the motor you got from the junkyard ? The part number should be just above the exhaust port of the forward end of the heads. Because I believe the junkyard sold you a pre-99 old head motor, not an '02 motor. The correct PS mount holes will not be there on the old heads '97-'98 motors. I would recommend finding another motor. Order a reman motor of the correct year so you know what you have.
