I have the same issue on my 10 EL limited. I've swapped the sensors on the front and lights still flash on while the wife was driving to work today. We have a trip planned this weekend to Orlando and don't know about driving that far. Especially with the intermittent issue going on. Any ideas would be great to have checked before Saturday

As per what I've been reading, a lot of weird problems exactly like what you describe are due to the PCM connectors having developed surface oxidation. The solution some folks have proposed is to disconnect all 3 connectors on the firewall, spray them down with WD40 electrical cleaner and reconnect. As simple as that...

I took a picture of my engine bay last year for reference. I have circled the plugs in question in red in the picture below. I'm going to do this too as preventive maintenance, even though mine are not acting up yet :

(note: all plugs on firewall need to be disconnected and cleaned, my picture only shows 2 of them clearly. I think there are 3 or 4 of them in total)

My 2007 Navigator only has 2 PCM plugs, there is none on the right. Why is that?

From memory, the pre-2007 Expedition and pre-2009 F-150 have a different configuration on the firewall (fewer plugs). I don't know exactly why that is, but I'd bet you're better off for it.

I firmly believe that the more crap there is to deal with, the more crap can go wrong.

;)

This guy explains it, at 2:30 mark :

Update ABS module was bad and had a local dealer swap it out. Now the problem lies within the passenger rear wheel sensor. I get same light on the dash and feels like wheel hop when turing slow or in a parking lot. It's almost like parking brake is on but it's not.....such a head scratcher now. Gonna look into the connection on the firewall and possibly chase the wiring down

2009 here. Same issue. Inherited the truck and I'm guessing it's been out 2-3 years. I don't know what's been tried but I do know 2 dealers have quoted to replace the control module. Think I'm going to try cleaning and evaluating the fuses and connections tomorrow. I do know that hooking up different trailers with standard connections and adapters haven't fixed the issue.

This happened to me today. 125k Miles 2012 Expedition EL. What is interesting is that I noticed that the turn signals were not flashing on the mirrors and/or making a noise when on, but the light on the dash was flashing. When I stopped I checked for error codes ( have a permanent OBII bluetooth dongle ) and got nothing. Turned the car off, turned it on and flashers work and no warnings lights.

No errors codes....might be a fuse or will pull the plugs and see if that resolves. No wheel bouncing or issues with breaking that I've noticed.

An old thread here. I have the same lights on my 09 XLT EL. From all I’ve read about the CHECK BRAKE SYSTEM and ABS model problems no one has said that they did an emergency stop to see if the ABS had actually failed. I did two hard braking stops today. The first left a right rear skid mark and the second locked both rear wheels in a perfectly straight stop leaving two marks. Both stops were from about 45 mph. I plan to take it to a trusted independent garage. I have no other electrical symptoms.

I know it’s not the same brand, but have a 2001 Toyota Sequoia that had the same issue. Ended up being some crud built up in the bottom of the master cylinder causing the level sensor to not read correctly. Pulled the fluid out of the reservoir, hosed it down with some electrical contact cleaner, refilled the reservoir and the warning lights went out.
