I've never done anything with exhaust with any of my vehicles, so i'm not that familiar but i'm thinking about doing something that makes a more enjoyable sound. how does the forum feel about exhaust upgrades / replacements on these trucks? are we looking at worse gas mileage, smog complications, anything like that? I live in southern california so, emissions and regulations are definitely a concern.

i've been really enjoying my truck since I completed my timing job last month, and i've been babying the hell out of her with fluid replacements, part replacements and digging around for stuff to tune up. but one side note, wear non-damaging clothing when working on your truck! I wore overalls with metal strap clips, and when I put everything back together my wife showed me that I heavily scuffed up the passenger headlight - like ALL OVER! my heart dropped, maybe one day i'll replace it if i can find a single one with same options. tisk tisk lol.

Well, I have an exhaust..I think its necessary. But, I also put a pair of Flowmasters on it and LOVE the sound.

how is the sound from the cabin? my mom used to have an F150 which I think had a magnaflow on it but i'm not sure, it was too loud inside the cabin and had a lot of drone. I definitely want to hear it when I step on it, or even a rumble at idle is good I just don't want that annoying drone from inside the cabin.

how long have you had it? and did it decrease mpg at all?

Keep in mind that “enjoyable sound” is not always enjoyable to others, including neighbors and people in residential neighborhoods that you may drive through.

totally! which is why i'm hesitant. I actually live in an RV park and my truck is right next to my neighbor's bedroom of her RV, so firing up the truck at 5:30am every morning, I need it to be tame.

Inthe cabin, windows up - barely hear it. They are not obnoxious - I dont have cherry bombs or anything - matter of fact - my bikes are WAY louder than the truck. Ive had them on for 16 months. If anything, MPG has increased. But, like by .3

So - I'm not saying you are wrong, I'm just saying that the sound IS always enjoyable - just maybe not appreciated. Like a Maserati - you cant tell me those things aren't Heavy Metal Concerts when accelerating. Some folks just like classical...

I had a Magnaflow catback on mine, but for me it wasn't loud enough, so I put in a single in, dual outlet Flowmaster 40 series and yeah, she has a bark now. Still have to get the tail pipes ran out. Probably just gonna go with plain tips right below the rear bumper, I'm not into fancy fat ass tips or stuff that looks like a missile launcher tube....though a missile pointing back at tailgaters is kinda......interesting...hmmm.
If you're interested in a gently used Magnaflow catback....I have one I don't need anymore :)
