Class 4 hitch receiver on a 2007 by itself does not mean you have HD Tow. The round 7-pole electrical outlet, however, only comes as part of the HD Tow package. There are other items, but the outlet is literally unique to that package. All Expeditions get the 4-pole boat trailer connector.

I have a 2007 ford expedition xlt, I can't tell if I have the 6000 lb tow or 9000 lb tow package and I can't find anything that that specifies the differences except the 4 and 7 pin connector, I have the 4 pin. I was told by the local ford that they don't know, no surprise there even when I gave them my vin, and because I have a spot to plug in the aftermarket trailer brake controller they think I have the 9000 lb tow. Can anybody tell me what to look for? I already tried the sticker in the driver's door like suggested and it doesn't say.
And honestly, if you really want to just err on the side of caution, upgrade everything you can to account for the differences between standard tow and hd tow and if you are looking at buying or pulling a boat, trailer, camper etc, just aim to stay under six thousand pounds so you have the piece of mind that you are OVER built to handle the weight. These rides aren’t exactly perfect at anything, but they do just about everything at an acceptable level for MOST people. Good luck with your build.

Hey Chuck, thanks for your response. Can't anyone wire up a round 7-pole in the same location, I mean these are old vehicles, how would I know if it's not been wired in after the fact? Thanks again! -Speed

If you look at the harness clipped into your four pin, you will find a blue brake line wire that is capped off. So I would assume that there would be a splice along that line if the 7 pin was wired aftermarket rather than the factory.

Thanks y'all. I'm also able to call the dealer to find out if the vehicle has Option Package 536: Heavy-Duty Trailer Tow Package.

Can anyone post a pic of the factory 7-pin as installed on the 2007 Expy? I want something I can text to sellers so they can see what I'm talking about. Some of these folks just have no idea lol

Also - I thought I had read that the Limited trim level included the HD Tow Package by default, but perhaps that's only on the newer Expys? I can't seem to find that anywhere for these older (2007-era) Expys.

The 7-pin connector on my '17 is in the same place as it was on my '07: to the right of the hitch receiver. Pretty easy to spot even without a photo. :) It's unique to HD Tow (536) which may be included on some trim lines. Nonetheless the 7-pin connector remains a positive identifier for HD Tow.

Cell phone photos but in the second photo the 4-pin is barely visible on the left of the receiver and the 7-pole is on the right. The 7-pole is in a bracket welded to the frame and an aftermarket bracket is unlikely to be welded on.
