I've got a Platinum Care ESP but apparently the heating element in my driver side mirror isn't covered. Dealer wants $600 to replace and told me the part is $450 of that. This seems a bit excessive. Is it possible to replace just the heating element and if so where's a good place to source that part? The technician did prove the problem to the actual mirror already.

I'm not even sure that it's possible to source just the glass (with its dimming and heat features). If you actually could, you would need to pry the old glass off of the center axis(?) that moves the mirror in/out & up/down. Even if you were able to find the glass only, you'll probably break one of the fingers that will fasten the new glass to the center axis. Probably why the dealer suggested a full replacement because they know the odds of a perfect replacement process are pretty slim. An entirely new mirror body will need to be painted to match the body color and installed, so that will be a part of the high cost.

Not covered by premium extended warranty. Im seeing more and more of these situations, I’ve experienced it 2x on my 2017. Seems like it is no longer worth it to buy the Ford Premium warranty.

I bought the Ford Premium Care extended service plan for my 2015 Ford Expedition. It has covered a transmission, water pump, ignition coil, and several other components.

The servicing Ford dealer is unable to tell me what items are covered. The service advisors have told me they have to enter the part number(s) of the affected parts in the computer to determine if they are covered.

I have an appointment at the Ford dealer on Tuesday for a clunk in the steering system when the steering wheel is turned, and for a vacuum leak moan and chattering / clacking in the front for the 4-wheel drive system while driving in 2-wheel high.

I am already wondering what issues I will encounter to have the defects repaired under the Ford service plan?

I've purchased the Ford Premium extended warranty's for 3 Explorers, 1 Mustang, 1 Excursion, and 4 Expeditions. I never had issues with coverage until the last 2 years when all of the sudden things that were always covered in the past are no longer. BTW Std Powertrain Warranty is 5Yr / 60K.
