I have a 2018 expedition that has had the cam phaser rattle for months. I did not realize it was even an issue until I took the car in for recalls this week. Was hit with a $4400 bill and told there was not a recall for the cam phasers so it’s not covered. Stupid me didn’t do much research other than looking up my VIN which only showed the ECM reprogram so I accepted defeat and paid the bill.

This weekend I started looking into it because it bothered me that I had to pay for this. Saw that letters were sent out and the program expired in February to have this issue fixed for free. I never got a letter, I assume because I moved. Any chance I can talk to corporate to get a refund of some sort? I plan on contacting both the dealer and corporate but was wondering if anyone had experience with something similar.

This won't help you, but $4400 for a repair that Ford has known about for four years, FOUR YEARS!!, and refuses to do a recall???? And some guys have had done multiple times??? They can take their truck and their bill and shove it. This is why I won't be buying any new Ford product. Just my opinion. Flame away. Or delete.

This is a known DEFECT. Class action lawsuit needs to happen and this is just one example. Good Luck

I agree. Ford has left me very disappointed with them as a company after this. I am hoping they will make it right.

Did the dealership Not call you and guve you a quoted price for the Cam Phaser work before they replaced them??? If not that is means for a lawsuit in itself.

They are supposed to contact u first before doing work especially if thats not the reason you even brought the thing in.

How many miles are on the 2018? I have had mine done twice. They are now under warranty until 70,000 miles. There was a customer satisfaction bulletin sent out about 9 to 12 months ago. They are fully aware these parts are faulty.

69300 miles. The CSB expired in February. I never knew about the CSB until after I had it fixed. They just told me there was no recall on it. They never sent one to me at my current address. Possibly sent one to my old address but I feel like if the extended warranty scam people can find where I live and have my vin number on their letters, then ford could have done more to contact me.

They did call me. Just told me there was no recall but it should be fixed. They quoted me 16 hours of labor but the CSB said it should only be 9.7 hours. I have two kids and this is our family vehicle. Wanted it fixed before traveling for the holidays so we are not left on the side of the road.

These two paragraphs are in the CSB. I like how they just say if you have an address for the owner please forward. I NEVER got this letter. Looking at my registration, it shows that the vehicle address is my old address but my current address is correct. Not sure why this is the case but clearly the letter was sent to my old address.
