Did anybody fumbled with spark plugs?

Fords Parts says SP578, which I think is Platinum. Upgrading to Iridium e.g SP550 or SP580 a good idea?

Sure, no problem. I'm curious if the Motorcraft SP550's are the stock plug, which seems to be referenced on all the F150 sites for the Gen 2 Ecoboost. 5 Star Tuning also recommends the SP550's for the 4th Gen Expedition. Wonder if they changed part numbers? I'll have to pull one of my plugs to have a look at some point.

FWIW just changed mine this weekend, 2018 with 12/17 build and it had the SP550's in it. I saw on some of the F150 forums ford changed to those for everything after a certain build date. Yes i was way early doing it on the mileage (35k) but for a bit of time and ~$35, seemed like a good idea. No carbon tracking and gap had just pushed a bit compared to what the new plugs were.

Thanks for confirming that your build date used the SP550's. Did you replace with SP550's or use the SP578's? Also curious if you were able to reuse the original rubber boots on the coils, or did you just replace them? Some have said the rubber boots tear easily when removing the coils.

I replaced with SP550's, i was able to get them locally at o'reilly's without issue. Boots on these gen2's are different, they are like 6-8 inches long, Model #WR6151 (rock auto has them). They are not like the previous gen where the coil was long and the boot was like 2 inches. These are flipped, the coil is super short with just a hard plastic "nipple" on it, and the boot slides over that and has a spring at the top that pushes up against a small medal piece within the nipple of the coil.

On a few it was a pain to get the COP's off, i actually thought i broke one, but the COP just popped off the boot, and i was able to put it back without issue, nothing tore. Obviously mine arent that old or that many miles, maybe if they were older and more brittle i could see having one tear, but they seem pretty stout.

I just replaced the plugs on my 2019 XLT 4wd with Ford sp594 and the old plugs looked burned with black spot on the bottom part. The gap was still around .31 which isn't bad. I took me about an hour and I already saw an improvement in idling. I put around 50k miles since new and had towed once or twice a year.

There is another post here that talks about a ngk version that is preferred by the tuners. That's what I ended up using.
