Hi Guys. I'm a member on the F-150 forum and glad I found this site.

We are a family of four. I have a sweet 2021 F150 Lariat Powerboost. My wife has a 2015 Ford Edge. The Edge is just too small with 2 carseats and a dog. She's decided she wants a full size SUV and is set on the Expedition, which is fine with my since I'm obviously a Ford fan. Here's my dilemma...

There is a 2022 Expedition Limited 20 miles from our house that just got delivered two days ago. It is the Limited 303A, Stealth package, 3.73 EDLS, panoramic roof, HD tow (don't really need), cargo manager, and 15.5 inch Sync 4a. Dealer is offering it at MSRP of $80,975 less $1,500 ford rebate, less $1,000 discount from dealer, less my $2,000 Ford private offer = $76,475.

The other option is ordering a 2023. The same dealer I ordered my F-150 through will order it for me at invoice of $76,904 (MSRP is $80,020) less my $2,000 Ford private offer = $74,904.

So price is basically the same, $1,500 on an $80k car doesn't really move the needed much. It's go pick it up now vs wait for the order which who knows will come. But what I struggle with is this...is it kind of stupid to buy a 2022 when 2023's are being built? I think the vehicle is basically the same but resale would be higher with one model year newer?

Also: I built my F-150 Lariat with the active prep 2.0 package and I have BlueCruise. I friggin love it. But from what I'm reading BlueCruise is ONLY available on the Platinum Expedition. AND with the Platinum you can't get Stealth package. So if my wife wants the stealth package, she can't have BlueCruise. Is that right? If so, that's incredibly stupid on Ford's part.

Sorry for long thread, I'm really looking forward to thoughts from the group!

TYIA,
Your correct about the Stealth sadly. Go for the Stealth before it's too late!!!! You've already got your PowerBoost. The Stealth would be awesome especially at that price! You'll never find one again that easy at that price! Go for it, you won't regret it. Having a 2022 model is actually better since in the years to come Ford will delete options because of the parts shortage.

I'd run with the '22. It's available, sounds like it has what you want, it's close....close the deal at a good price!

Go take ur wife to drive it. If yall like it as is, take it home. If you like it but need the other features like bluecruise, massage seats, ccd, 22 spkr stereo, then order a platty and see if the dealer can get you a good deal on the order, which they should. It'll be a 8 mnth wait, but you'll get what you want. Also, the one avail has hd tow, which is on hold for my23 rn and that my22 will be gone over the course of wknd because of it.

Thanks guys. We already drove it and really like it. Drivers easier, better turning than my F150 which she likes.

What is ccd?

Adjustable suspension, it makes it ride much less trucklike and softer.

Two things come to mind here. One is how long will the Ford rebate and/or your $2,000 private offer still be good, and two, there is no way of knowing what, if any, equipment already on the available '22 won't be available on the '23. For example, our son has a new Tremor on order and from the time it was ordered, the heated steering wheel was deleted from the package and it's now getting pushed back waiting for a stereo system. I assume that the '23 Expeditions will have similar equipment deletions too. Additionally, having the HD tow will be worthwhile just for the 3.73 axle ratios and may also have the ELSD which is included in an optional package. I'd say that, if your wife likes the exterior color, then go with the '22.

I wouldn’t get ‘22 wheels with a CCD suspension. Not a good combo. Ride is not that smooth. I have it and that’s my opinion.

The my23 order guide is out, that information is already available to the public.

IMO sounds like the Stealth is not what you want. Remember the hard fast iron clad rule. You cannot get performance handling AND a soft ride in the same package, especially in heavy vehicles. Looks at race cars the suspension is like rocks to get the incredible handling. IMO Ford did a pretty good job putting the trims into distinct buckets.

Timberline - Great off road ride and good on road but rolls more and more bouncy.
Stealth - 22" and a stiffer suspension to handle windy roads and more sports car like handling.
Platinum and Others - Best all around comfort

IMO I would order the Platinum. Another saying "No matter how much you saved or what you paid for it are a moot point if you are not happy with it"
