Thanks In advance. My 2008 expedition is leaking transmission fluid . It started riding rough when shifting. When I went under the car I saw it was leaking but very slowly .I took it to my local mechanic shop and he said that if my trans fluid was low a light will pop up which hasn’t . When he got under it he said it was leaking from a seal that I should take it to a transmission place bc the Transmission got to be taken out . Which is expensive. I don’t know if I should take it somewhere else , or maybe I can fix the problem myself .also what kinda trans leak requires the trans to come out of the car ? Any recommendations? Thank you

There aren't many non-catastrophic leak scenarios that require the transmission to be removed. Do you have any pictures of the leak location? Do you see any fluid on the ground?

If it only leaks after sitting for awhile then it's the bulkhead connector, which is a cheap and easy driveway fix but requires you to drop the transmission pan.

I don’t have any good pics . But it’s definitely leaking trans fluid. It did start getting worse shifting wise . No light came on . I know it was leaking when I changed my ac clutch compressor. I don’t know if it’s leaking while I drive .

Actually I’m actually sure it only leaks when it’s on parked .
