Not needed unless your 5.4 V8 has been turbocharged and converted to direct injection (rather than port injection).

Supercharger in an 5.4V8Expedition? Whatcha gonna to do with all that power?
Catch can always helps a little with forced induction due to crankcase pressurization but the need isn't as great with the 5.4V8 'cuz vs the EcoBoosts as the intake valves are constantly washed by the fuel due to port induction. If you're gonna drop those dollars into a supercharger the cost of a catch can will barely show up on the invoice.

Made a bet with a friend, said his tahoe could beat me in a race, and I'm not telling him I'm putting this on until race day. Also more power never hurt anything.
I don’t believe it is needed for the V8. I believe it is related to the turbo and ecoboost.
I have a stock 2007 XLT. Do you need pics of something? If so start a new thread. I’ll be happy to take pics if it helps.
If I don't need the catch can then I don't need pics but thank you

So just over 2 weeks since I posted, I decided to check today. Snapped a picture, it measured 44mL. Just looks and smells like used oil. Thin consistency.

Can you pour it in a cup next time and let it sit, to see if it separates?
So you collected 44ML in 2 weeks? How many miles? Type of driving? Temp?
That seems like more than you should of pure oil.

Mileage was somewhere between 500-750 miles, driving is primarily short trips (less than 5 miles) in town. Little to no freeway. Temps have been from the low 70s down to the low 40s. Vehicle performance/gas mileage has not been effected. We do tend to idle a lot. Between remote start and waiting in long pickup lines for the kids.
Since I just emptied it yesterday, I’ll just look keep a more detailed log over the next week and follow up.
