One of my coworkers bought a new Yukon Denali and it really is quite nice inside. Tech is well executed, and exterior, as a personal preference, is not bad looking. Ride and NVH are quite nice. Towing capacity is what kills it for me, and I agree that it is ridiculousl that they even built it with less than 9000 lbs capacity. Can go with less than that and still tow my boat and take my family with me.

The Wagoneer is likely my next stop once the hybrid comes out. Too many stupid issues with my Expy and the dealer to trust it long-term, unfortunately, though now that I have redone the suspension I am pretty happy with the current performance. It's a shame that Ford let the quality control fall so far. Maybe the next gen will be better and I'll be back then.
I like the Wagoner. IMO, Stellantis interiors are the best (RAM, Jeep) So are the infotainment systems. BUT... Heads up. The new Hurricane straight six turbos are just that, new.. No way to gauge long term quality/reliability.

After owning a 18 Navigator and an 18 Expedition, I can't say enough about how much more practical the Expedition is. Its just laid out so much better on the interior. The Navigator is cool if you just want flash, but its not user friendly at all. The Nav interior made me claustrophobic, you were literally trapped in it. Sure there was luxury stuff on the Nav, but that stuff doesn't butter my biscuit. I guess my point is, for them being so similar, I'd buy the Expedition over the Nav even if the price wasn't less! My opinion

I'm really eyeing up a Cadillac Escalade V EL! 650 supercharged HP. Get em before Uncle Sam kills them off!

After test driving a 18 nav after getting my 18 expy, I didn't think the nav was worth the 20k price difference, though the nav drove better. However now, the expy and the 15in screen(and assuming the 12in screen after driving an f150) are nowhere near as user friendly as the new lincoln nav, and the ride difference is even greater now.

Ford is lucky that only the Wagoneer competes on towing / GCVWR and car seat friendly third row access. For the price I paid it made sense to look at every other SUV.

I really like the new Grand Cherokee. The upline Summit/Summit Reserve interiors are very nice. I'm more concerned with reliability, and that's why I won't buy one. Granted my son's 2019 Wrangler with 110+K miles has been flawless. Jeeps seem to be either excellent, or nothing but trouble. I like the Yukons, but price point gets pretty ugly. I will not buy another Ford product as I feel Ford has dropped the ball and turned it's back on all the issues on these trucks. So, as usual, I'm at a loss.

I'm starting to stray from just the Expedition lane on my next purchase. There just seems to be way too many issues with the 4th Gen Expy for my liking. I always buy "like new" so I've had my sights on low mileage 19'-20' Expys. They're in a price range I could tolerate. But with all these issues I'm really holding back. Figure I'd have to drop near $4k on a very hearty ESP just to sleep at night and no telling how many times I'll have it in the shop.

So looking at the other offerings. We need an SUV, pickup won't do for the wife. The Sequoia looks fantastic, but the unknown reliability of the hybrid, the cost to replace those batteries, and the killer being the non-level rear cargo take that off the table.
So I starting looking at the Chevy options the Tahoe and they look very nice but then I took a gander at the Yukons and wow, that Denali 6.2 V8 model looks fantastic. Sure the tow capacity is about 1000lbs less than the Expy, but the more important number to me is the payload is basically the same as the Platinum Expys I was leaning towards. My camper usually is around 6700-7000lbs so the cut in tow capacity isn't such a big deal for me and the 4 corner air suspension looks awesome for towing.

Now the Denali models were redesigned in 21' so that would have to be year I'd be looking at so it's a good $10k more than what I had been shopping for. I think I'm going to have go give it a test drive and compare.

But Ford really has given me pause. I've owned two Expys which I've loved but I'm not about to buy into a heap of trouble for this kind of money.

Def look Into the gms first run for my21. They had a lot of engine and electronic problems. I used to be on the forum, and both the 6.2 and 5.3 would fail regularly. I think for my22 they ironed those out, but then you'll be losing features and paying more, like what ford is doing now. Also, long term reliability isn't proven either.

I've been fairly loyal to Ford for a while now. But when looking for a new SUV I tried to do my due diligence. The looks of the Yukon really doesn't do it for me, like the looks of Tahoe better, but even that doesn't look great IMO. I wanted to give the Wagoneer a try, but couldn't find one to test drive in a 100 mile radius from me (I know, ridiculous). I found a dealer that had a Grand Wagoneer, but it was their floor model, so I couldn't drive it, and they didn't even have a battery on it couldn't even move the seats or open the rear hatch. And the thought of the unknown Hurricane engine ultimately turned me off.

I've had two 3.5L Twin Turbo Ecoboost based F150s and they were both great reliable trucks. So I went for an Expedition. I took delivery last week of a 23 Limited Max SPP. I've been worried the whole time about the reliability of it and I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

I'd say most manufacturers these days are not very deserving of brand loyal customers. Most customers don't necessarily expect to have zero issues, but we do expect the manufacturers to make it right when issues come up, and that's where brand loyalty is earned - and where most brands really screw the pooch. I really can't blame anyone for looking at other brands.

sorry for the lengthy post. I guess I got inspired.

Geez, yep just went down the Chevy/GMC rabbit hole and there is some major issues with the lifters on these V8 motors and it seems to be still happening to 22's as well. Just can't win, go with Ford you got major issues that don't seem to have a long working solution, or go with rival brand and they go their own set of non-longterm fixing issues.

Meanwhile the price of these vehicles are off the charts, approaching $90k for a vehicle that is missing features. It's really a joke in the auto industry these days.

Whatever I end up with, my plan is to buy lightly used and warranty the heck out of it and just have to deal with the issues and inconveniences. Don't really have much other options.

What kind of long term issues are we talking? A lot of what I’ve seen with the Ford’s have solutions.

My dad has a 22 escalade, only 7k miles but no issues so far. Just gotta get lucky I guess.

If the rear of wagoneer looked better and the regular wagoneer got the 12in screen like the grand wagoneer or a revised screen that doesn't leave so much empty space, I would've considered it more. When I tested one, it was nice but over in Guam, they were selling it for 105k, and it didn't feel worth it(maybe 80k, not 100k). After driving that, a 21 denali, and a 21 nav back to back, I thought the 21 nav was the best deal, and after buying a 20 nav, it is a better deal.
