I have a 2020 Limited (19K miles) I purchased used. I discovered the rain sensing wipers did not work. Three times to dealership. Second time the module (?) was replaced. Still would not sense rain. Dealership thought defective unit and replaced again. The rear window wiper activates intermittently, no pattern. When I turn off the Expedition, during rain & exit the vehicle I leave the the front wipers in "Auto". When get back in, start it, during rain the sensor does not turn on the wipers for miles, maybe 5 minutes during rain. Back wiper still intermittently activates w/o touching rear switch & it is ALWAYS in the "off" position.

Sometimes in very light rain the wipers seem to run at a normal speed and then they will run crazy fast for 20-30 seconds and then slow back down to the normal slow speed.

I have had 3 other Expeditions with rain sensing wipers, all worked perfectly.

Suggestions please?

Do you use RainX or any other hydrophobic coating/wax on your windshield? I had similar issues with the rain sensing wipers on my RAM and it's caused by the coating. You can remove it by using alcohol wipes or just use regular fluid for a while.

Suggestion: Take the vehicle to another Ford dealer and have it repaired under your new vehicle warranty. Clearly the dealer you took it to for repair was unable or unwilling to repair it.

PART 2

The sensor was replaced twice. Is the rear window wiper supposed to function when the rain sensor is "on" and working on the windshield? The rear window wiper now automatically works when the vehicle is in reverse AND the rain sensing wipers are "on".
I hate the rear window wiper. Thanks

I have a 2018 Limited and usually leave the wipers in auto. I typically have to manually hit the wipers once (tap the end of the stalk) when I start the engine, and then the auto wipers work as expected. My rear wiper never activates when it's in the off position. It follows whatever the switch is set to.
