I am having some sticking issues with my driver side power running board motor. I’ve washed it, power washed it, applied all the lubricants and oils mentioned in this forum and YouTube videos. They work for a week then the board sticks again.

I called the dealer and asked if I could hold a spot and they said no, I had to drop off my expy to get in line. I said this is my family vehicle that drives perfectly fine and I will not be dropping it off for a non mechanical issue and to call me when I could stop by. I even offered to put in a deposit for “lost time” if I couldn’t get my car at the dealer at the agreed date and time. No luck.

I asked why and they mentioned well most other customers are willing to do it so I would have to as well per the market. while I’ll never be buying a vehicle from them because of that comment, they are convenient to have oil changes and small warranty work due to proximity to my house.

Is this standard practice?

This is common practice for Ford in my experiences as well.

Edit: I DO have to make a scheduled day to come in but then they tell me they will get to it when they can.. takes a few days or a week sometimes.

How long is the line? days or weeks they mention before they can even diagnose it?

The minimum time to start looking at it is a week. Id assume diagnosis is easy/short for the running board motor.

My current plan is to turn it in on a Thur/ Fri when I’m traveling for business the next week. Just a hassle. It’s also nice to have a spare car while my wife is home alone with our child in case of emergency.

That’s absurd. I could see dropping off the afternoon before, but not a week. I think I’d be looking for an alternative.

Not with my dealer. I've NEVER had to stand in line. I've always reached out and got a day and time to bring the vehicle in. I'm in Massachusetts. My dealer is Colonial Ford in Marlboro. I've always been treated well. I think you need to find another dealer who is Customer focused in their service department

Love my Expedition, absolutely hate the Ford Dealership mentality! I'm blown away by their "my way or the highway" attitude. My first Ford will almost certainly be my last unless I find that unicorn Ford dealership that treats customers well.....

Never had any dealership or shop do that. Makes no sense.
