Does anyone use the door code instead of key to access vehicle?

I use mine almost 100% of the time. Used Forscan to get rid of the double honk and now it's perfect!

I love this feature. I used all the time on my F150 when I would need to get something out of the truck quick as I put my keys on a key hook away from the front door. I also like using the 7-9 buttons to lock the doors even if I don't have the key near by to use the touch sensors on the handle. I just purchased my Expedition and unfortunately the key code card did not come with the vehicle and I only have one key so I can't find the code until I get an additional key.
On my 07 Lincoln MKZ, the code is written on a module under the dash (maybe the unlock or remote module?). When we bought the car used, the previous owner didn't know the code or he didn't give it to us, so I looked online to find out where the factory code was located and once I found it printed on the sticker under the dash, I was able to set my own code on the keypad. Not sure if it's that way on all Ford vehicles, but maybe this will help you out!

Use this feature all the time. Have to remember to pull the keys out of the pocket so they don't get washed. We have a driveway full of Fords and they all have this feature makes it nice not having to run down the keys to gain access to any of them. I was a little disappointed with my 17 Expy had figured it would have had a touchless entry similar to our 2010 MKX 2013 Focus and 2015 Flex but I had to get used to pushing the buttons for access to the expy with the fob in your pocket. Anyone have a good way of replacing or repainting the numbers. LOL Unfortunately, with the not so touchless entry you have to hit the same keys for the doors to lock and unlock whereas the other vehicles mentioned you just put your hand behind the handle to lock or unlock. Consequently, the numbers have worn off. Just looks a little tacky for my tastes. Otherwise, I like the keypads.

I mainly use it to unlock the car when my keys are buried in the bottom of my purse. As long as you have the key on you, push any button and the door unlocks.

WOW! I learned something! I HATE carrying the HUGE fob in my pocket and my expy will not let me lock my key in the car. I will try the metal box trick.. Thanks.. I have used the keyless entry some.. but frequently just leave keys in the car unlocked.. Unless I go to town.

When I try to leave key in the car and leave after locking, it honks at me and unlocks. How do you keep it from doing that?

giraffenut - Mine is a 2003 Ford Expedition and it doesn't behave that way. Maybe yours is newer and has this a safety override? Only a guess.

I use it all the time. I keep a spare fob hidden in our cars without the battery installed so I don't get the double beep. We have an Expedition and a Bronco Sport, so if I am not carring the correct key I can get in anytime. The same goes for my wife. A lost fob will not destroy a trip as I can put the battery in the spare fob and continue on. I don't leave it running for the reasons stated above.
