For your reference, I snapped a picture of my 2018 when slightly open. The clearance is pretty tight, but it shouldn’t interfere with the roof. May be the spoiler warps when cold??

this is kind of unreal! This kind of damage and nothing yet from Ford? so how many folks on here have had this now?

Hey moderators, is there a way to add a poll or something in this thread to help track people that have experienced this?

Dropped off at my dealer Monday - they received another expedition on Tuesday with the same problem - they spoke to Ford engineers and they refuse to cover - multiple dealers on metro Detroit getting same issues brought to them
- I was told to file a claim with my insurance
- I am going to investigate a class action lawsuit - very disappointed with Ford

I also noticed ice gets wedged in that gap and causes binding. I haven’t looked but I bet the wing can be adjusted

This is just like the peeling paint on the hoods and tailgates of older expeditions. It was a problem for over a decade and they refused to acknowledge it or do anything to prevent/resolve it.

Breaks my heart to see yet another F/U design failure from Ford that they wont stand behind. I'm going to be sticking with my Gen 3 Expys and when I have to make a change it won't be to another Expy. So Sad, love these trucks.

I will continue to provide updates.
Update: after the dealership said we needed to submit a claim. A Ford engineer contacted the dealership to reveal that he is driving a 22 or 23 Expy and noticed that there is a rubber gasket at the top of the tailgate. They told us to bring it back to see if we have the rubber gasket and guess what the rubber gasket is not present. The rubber gasket acts like caulk to prevent any debris or buildup behind the top of the tailgate. The dealership is going to keep us updated on what they found since this is being escalated. Will keep everyone posted on more updates.

Looking like the tailgate spoiler gasket installer at the Factory called out and this was never installed during build. If the rest of you that have cracked spoilers and that gasket is NOT present.. its an easy win for you to get the repaired Free of charge by Ford. Hooefully this is the case...

I'm going to have to check out my 22 tonight. I don't think mine has a gasket. I just can't believe all the dirt that gets stuck between the upper lift window of the trunk.
