Purchased a 2023 Expedition Platinum with the headrest Rear Seat Entertainment. Total garbage when it comes to functionality and vehicle integration. Going to have aftermarket installed instead. Having to swap headrests since the built in screens will be a moot point. How do you get the headrest off?? I have used the buttons at the base of the posts and the headrests only come so far up then stop. Maybe the wiring is stopping then? Need help!

I have run in to this on older models I am assuming it is still the same setup. You need to push down on the leather around the posts. There should be clip there on both sides. You need to pull the clips out and then the head rest should come right out.

It is the Wiring for the speakers in the headrest. There is a procedure in the manual to remove. You have to take the back fabric off the seat. This is atleast the case in the 21+ 150.

Part of why the new system is trash is that it doesn’t have speakers! Or play over the vehicle audio at all! That’s for 22 and 23s. They are now Amazon fire tvs.

So not the speakers, but probably the wiring. And I don’t want to take the fabric off…ugh!

Sorry, I forgot about the wiring. I had the 2019 res and I found it quite good. It would play a lot of formats from usb so we just loaded up a flashdrive with movies and the kids watched whatever they wanted. Could even watch 2 separate movies from the same USB. Mind you you they were old enough to control the remotes themselves, I can see it's a problem for little ones. Glad I am past all of that, they just use their phones now and I don't have to pay the ridiculous price for the res anymore.

I wish! These headrests have been an absolute nightmare for me in the week I’ve had the car. Every time I take 20+ minutes to get them setup up and playing audio via a Bluetooth speaker, then move to the front seat and get on the road, I get “mom it’s not playing. It has words on it.” Ugh!!

Here is one way:

Here is the Ford Documented way:

Headrest Removal 2.jpeg

This is on the 150. I used the Ford documented way when I needed to remove one of mine. It was a pain, but doable.

Awesome! Definitely gonna try this!!

I don’t see speakers in my headrests anywhere. Interesting.

Maybe they don't. Just looked at some Plati stock images on Ford's site, and I don't see the perforation that the BO Unleashed headrests on the 150 have. Eitherway, I would assume the wiring for the RES is similar as far as the back of the seat.

Take pictures. I am SURE somebody else will run in to this.
