My '19 has the gasket, which I don't really even call it that, it's a flap. But under my liftglass is still always caked in dirt, it doesn't keep really anything out. It's interesting, when you look at how different manufacturers design gaskets and door seals, these are pretty weak. Regardless, if the 22's don't have them, this must have been some sort of hidden, free, supply chain delete option you didn't even know about :). It probably increased the profitability of the platform by about $5 per vehicle.

My 22 built in May has the rubber flap/gasket under the gap. Maybe it was a part shortage somewhere during the build process that some didn't get it.

I have a 2019 and has rubber gasket between the spoiler and roof joint. When the rear is open the gasket moves with the spolier. Pics attached. If your expy doesn't have this gasket and is cracking then we know why this is an issue.

Thank you @AJ82 and @SyndicateZ for posting pics of what the flap looks like! We just transitioned from rain yesterday to snow and 20's/ teens today into the weekend so I won't be opening my gate to check any time soon, but definitely will. Per @AJ82 's requests and suggestions in posts 40 and 49 of this thread, I will report back whether mine has the flap or not, along with my build date. If memory serves, it was August 27, 2022, but I will confirm.

Check your flap. Our vehicle has one but was still damaged. On the driver side (left) of the hatch the flap is not properly mated to the spoiler and is actually wedged under the spoiler. I can grab it with my hand and move it freely with no problem. The flap on the passenger (right) side of the hatch appears to be properly seated and I cannot move it. In my opinion these photos make it easy to see the condition that allowed this damage to happen.

I’m willing to bet other effected vehicles have a similar condition.

ha ha ha, i can see the service bulletin now. "Customers in wet and icy situations should have a tea kettle available to warm up some water, to help defrost the lift gate gasket, or significant damage can happen. In severe situations, we (Ford) recommend pouring RV anti-freeze on the roof before freezing weather."

Update: after the dealership said we needed to submit a claim. A Ford engineer contacted the dealership to reveal that he is driving a 22 or 23 Expy and noticed that there is a rubber gasket at the top of the tailgate. They told us to bring it back to see if we have the rubber gasket and guess what the rubber gasket is not present. The rubber gasket acts like caulk to prevent any debris or buildup behind the top of the tailgate. The dealership is going to keep us updated on what they found since this is being escalated. Will keep everyone posted on more updates.

I had to go look
August 2019 build has the little gasket between the hatch deflector and roof. But Tahoe trips Ice definitely gets wedged in there and I need to be cautious about opening the hatch.

Side note one thing that was a big surprise my 19 has the cast aluminum oil pan some point in 2019 Ford quietly switched from the troublesome black plastic oil pan to a cast aluminum oil pan. I was pretty happy to discover mine was cast aluminum
