So are there any down sides to installing a catch can? A drop in fuel economy? If not why do they not come with them? Are there any manufactures that do put them in their vehicles?

How did that catch can turn out? I have an 07 that I'm putting one on.So I own a 2007 Expedition Limited and I put the JLT catch can on it. Haven't emptied it yet because I just put it on. I am fixing to do a oil change soon. So I'll post a pic after. I am in the process of start a youtube channel which will start with me working on the Expedition. It was mistreated and I want to bring it back to it's former glory.

Well…. That is exactly the downside. Remembering to check it, empty it, and discard the gunk somewhere (hopefully a place that will handle it appropriately and not just in the trash!). As you said, it is one additional thing that needs to be monitored. People want to buy vehicles and have them just work. Even oil changes at today’s extended intervals are too much of an intrusion for some people…no downsides.
Why don't they? because they focus on emissions and minimal maintenance. A catch can has to be checked every month or two. Nobody wants to buy a car and have to do that.
The pvc hose is EXACTY how I routed mines - thxI think I did the same modification. Do the pictures look similar?View attachment 38363View attachment 38364
Why are you commenting on a thread with a piece of information that has been discussed ad nauseum on here, and has zero bearing on any current conversation on the matter?If you read the fine print on any warranty contract you will find a lot of reasons your warranty can become void;
installing aftermarket parts can be one of them.
However, per the Magnuson–Moss Warranty Act proof would have to be provided that the after-market part caused the failure.
If you need further clarification, contact your vehicles service department. Some are easier to deal with than others.
This^5000 and 7000 mile oil changes? I go at 3000 and my oil looks great. I've got 2 to 4 k miles less crud in my engine each oil change. Do you really think Ford wants your car to go 300k miles any more. Here's a tip, change your oil.
