I have a 2019 limited (non HD towing) and when I googled it I see a range anywhere from 5000-6500 lbs. Wondering what the actual limit is on non HD towing? It is a 4x4 standard wheelbase limited.
Also I've seen on Youtube people towing 7000+ pound enclosed car haulers and say's it tows great and new problems. I'm winding what are some of the weights that you are towing with your non HD towing package? Thanks

The max towing capacity for the nonHD tow package is indeed 6000 pounds but I'm sure there are folks on YouTube towing 7000.

You sure your Limited lacks the HD tow package? In the link AJ posted: Do you have the factory brake controller in the dash and 3.73 axles? They're part of the HD tow option.

Unfortunately, I do not have the brake controller and not sure which gear ratio I have.

The expy must have teh H/D tow package. Bring the VIN number to a Ford dealer and go into the parts dept and ask them to run the factory list. It will tell you the tow package. Then look in the wners manual for the tow rating.
I strongly advise using an equalizer hitch set-up. Allows a bit more tow weight, and makes the vehicle a lot smoother on the road. I am towing near 8000 with a 2003 expy 4X4 with the stock H/D package, and an equalizer. On long tows, wife watches a movie on the DVD player.....
Note: if the expy has both the 7 pin and 4 pin light connectors, its probably gthe H/D, but ask at the dealer.

The OEM brake controller is part of the 2019 HD Tow package Since you don't have it you don't have HD Tow regardless of axle ratios so you're limited to 6000 pounds. Unlike earlier model years it does not seem possible to retrofit all the components of HD tow to base vehicles.

7 and 4 pin trailer connectors were on all 2019 Expeditions. (On the Gen3 2007 - 2017) the 7 pin connector only came on the HD Tow models.) The OEM brake controller has been added by many. Just plugs in under the dash and mounts in the vacant hole.

Keep in mind the Maximum Towing Capacity is only valid when the vehicle is empty. Capacity degrades pound for pound with cargo or passengers.

For lurkers thinking about buying ANY pickup or SUV always get HD tow. It's inexpensive if it comes from the factory and expensive to add.

You have to be careful with the Max. allowed and the real allowed. To tow the max allowed you have to have the prefect conditions including cargo, tongue load, the righ tires and a load equalizing hitch.
This is one of the better videos that explains in deatil what you can safely tow...
