Installed the GFB Blow off valve today. I decided to pull the trigger after about a year of going back and forth if I wanted that loud noise all the time. I know some like the noise but I kind of like my ride quiet.

I decided on the GFB unit mainly because it has a mounting bracket that holds the plug for the recirc pipe in place instead of just capping it and letting it flop around like Turbo Smart. I have to say the build quality is top notch and instructiona were easy to follow. I am tuned and I know the cheap plastic stock unit is a potential point of failure so I figured this can't hurt to add. There were also some weird turbo flutter issues I was having before and I am hoping this resolves that issue.

Took it for a test drive and I was surprised how it was not too obnoxious. If you don't go full throttle and let off, the noise isn't bad. It also opened up less than I thought while driving around. After some time goes by I will update this post. For now I have to say I like it.

Where is the factory blow-off valve mounted / located? Thank you.

On the intercooler, behind the radiator, should be the bottom driver side corner of the intercooler. It’s a black cylindrical object.

Curious to hear if it solves your flutter issue. I have fluttering, mostly at highway speed in 10th gear on smallish uphill grades. Dealer couldn’t replicate the issue so I’m considering replacing the BOV as a potential solution.

I installed a turbo smart BOV a month ago. It’s pretty low key in terms of sound. It only discharges when you are boosting and pull off the throttle fast. It’s fun but kind of a gimmick unless you are really concerned about bursting your OEM BOV, which I am not. I did it during the intercooler upgrade since it can’t be installed without taking out the intercooler. I’m going to be towing a boat this summer an opted for the cooler upgrade.

Well I was hoping it solved my flutter issue... so far so good. Took on 3 hour road trip.
